Things like adb backup -apk (-apk flag was the issue) only worked for me when I downloaded new platform-tools from Google.

Not a driver issue. I think i can add new adb binaries.

Yes, I can confirm MM sdk has new fastboot and adb binaries compared to the ones included in you 1.4.2 package

For now I manually updated the files in the folder but I hope you can release a new version
