Yes, trying to downgrade to 4.1.1, assuming you get past the Odin bootloader check, could hard brick the phone.

@aram980, what bootloader and modem/baseband is on the phone? How did you downgrade?

Did you follow the instructions from the original post? This is a downgrade of the ROM but not the bootloader and modem.

Will this work for 4.4.2? My wife's SGH-I747 S3 (AT&T US) died from a hardware failure and I got a used S3 for her that has 4.4.2 installed. She liked the 4.1.2 a lot better. Sorry I couldn't read the entire thread, my Internet connection is too slow & I don't have time to do so.

There is no way to downgrade the i747 from 4.4.2 back to 4.1.2. The best you could do would be to flash TWRP and then flash a custom ROM based on stock 4.1.2.
