i have same problem as couple of people before mentioned - boot to recovery stuck on splashscreen

No. It works fine for me, you either did something wrong or have a different hardware revision. Without logs, there's not much I can do for you, sorry.

hey, where is the download link to the compiled .img file? all links redirect to source code instead and i don't understand the codes at all.

Because it goes to other page which is not for downloading cwm 6...
build the link please....

Wildfire s under CM11 KitKat Success

Dears,

just took back today my old Wildfire to see if a refresh was possible... Really great !!! Managed easily thanks to the recovery provided here.
Olivier Thanks ! (on reverse, TRW did not work for me. UI stays frosen)

    If you want PhilZ features, then just go for it. This is CWM.

    Try this in phones terminal emulator:
    Su(press enter)
    flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img(assuming you put the recovery image in the root of the sdcard)
    Worked for me on my WFS
