I am getting this error:

Code:
mtd: erase failure at 0x00000000 (I/O error)
mtd: erase failure at 0x00000000 (I/O error)
mtd: skipping write block at 0x00000000
That repeats several times and then eventually no space left on device (flash failed)

I see others have run into this problem as well, but is there any known solution? I haven't been able to find any.

which step should we go back to if we initially used the wrong one? Do we have to start back over from the beginning? Or just reboot into recovery and flash pc36img.zip again? thanks!

assuming that you Flashed MTD PARTITION obtained the correct one (pc36img) place it at the root of your SD card and continue from there.

I'm a noob to android. Just came from a Pre. It says to put files onto the root directory of the phone. When I turn the phone into a disk drive where exactly is this folder. What is it called.

"Root directory" means no folders. Top level. The root of your c:\ drive is just c:\, for example. And it says sdcard, not phone.
