Just noticed on the 0.4.0 update that apps are disappearing from the app drawer. This didn't happen to me on 0.3.0. Is there a way to correct, or is this a side effect of apps2SD?

I'm looking at my update-script... i may have figured out what this problem is all about.

EDIT:
nop, i did not:
Code:
format BOOT:
write_raw_image PACKAGE:boot.img BOOT:

i just dont understand...
why are some people getting this error, others don't?

The same problem had occurred when i tried to install Pauls Froyo ROM.
I had see quite a few ppl had the same problem. But no solution i guess.

But interesting thing is that the CM mod always works fine and i dont get this error.

Does this ring any bell? Is it something to do with Froyo ROMS?

As I am formating boot before writing image to it, the only explanation will be that froyo's boot.img is bigger than others... checking on that, and for a "solution".

How big is Froyo's kernel? Some people have issues if the kernel is larger than 2.2mb. This would explain the problem if it is larger than that.
Just providing a history of my phone if that helps-

1- a month back or so, i tried to install the stock Froyo update when it first got leaked.
2- every thing went on smooth without any error but when i rebooted my phone after the flash, it went into an unending loop and never started.
3- At that point i unlocked my phone and then tried to install Paul's Froyo and got the same error as i have posted in this thread.
4- I tried out various things but nothing worked.
5- Then finally i tried CM mod 7.0 and it flashed seamlessly.
6- Now when i try and install this ROM, the same ghosts are back.
7 - guess something went bad in the first point itself.

I have been trying to find a soilution to this problem. But not successful till now.

Then that's the issue most likely. Some phones (a small percent) cannot install boot.img larger than 2.2mb. If you can somehow reduce it to 2.2mb my guess is the issue will be resolved.
@Leo

do you thing it would be possible to get this boot img reduced to 2.2 MB.
It would be great if possible.

This would fix the issue for quite a few.

My new setup is Magpie (a modified CYAN 6.1 with built in support for app2ext) it's the best substitute to Leo own memory management

I also use a patch to move data to sd card, with this I get a new rom with most feature I had in Leo.

Hopefully (for him and us...) he will be back one day...

    you are right :D:D

Leo back today , check twitter ...

Welcome back leo we missed you
