Disclaimer - my post is related only to original subject of this thread, LegacyXperia CM13 build,..... .

Yeah. I have an Xperia Pro (MK16) and as I wrote before, long time ago: the best we can have on Xperia 2011 devices is CM11, Android KK. That is my personal experience, with lots of tuning and so.

With CM11 device is not that fast with current apps, but it does work. My Xperia Pro, root enable, Xposed installed, is running fine as backup device.

To let it better I do suggest to:
- delete all system apps that you don't use
- move Google Play Services to internal memory (as user app.... Yes! It does work and help a lot to free system room besides internal memory on updates)
- now that have some free system memory, move highly used user apps that is not frequently updated to system (xposed + modules for instance, browser,.... )
- have the fastest SD card you can and partition it to use Link2sd or Apps2sd
- set Link2sd / Apps2sd to link (move) everything from user apps to ext partition on SD card
- prefer light/lite apps, like Naked Browser Pro, Hermit (for web apps instead real apps), Facebook Lite, Messenger Lite,..... (even better without Facebook if possible)

I haven't tried yet, but I think it will be even better if run CM11 without Gapps. No Google Apps at all. Then sideload all apks, use apkmirror, yalp Store, F-DROID to install apps.

An alternative, medium term solution, can be to try Mkcrog with CM11. But I'm not sure if works, I haven't tried that also.

Trebouchet crashes when too many apps are installed

This is a very good question!
The lite version of Android 8 seems to support even RAM sizes of 512 MB which would suit to e.g. Xperia Ray or Neo very well.
Actually I didn't make very good experiences with CM13 and CM14 which you can read on my next article.
Android Go would solve lots of problems here.
The question is:
Will it be a big effort to adapt CM15 to that lite version?
I even would not suggest to create a regular Oreo version!...

But wilsonhlacerda how should there be a MicroG version for Xperia 2011 devices?
MicroG doesn't support those devices. Please let me know a download link as I couldn't find it anywhere.
Thank you.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Hello,
meanwhile I tried CM13 and CM14 with LX kernel on my Ray/Urushi. But unfortunately both of them are VERY unstable (and also quite slow - you can notice very much that Lollipop was the last version that was made for 512 MB RAM).
They both crashed too often especially when you changed the orientation/rotation or used the camera.
This experience should have made everybody, I assume.
So I was forced to decrease the version.
Now CM12.1 is fine here! No (big) problem with stability.

But the following experience I made with any version (I wonder why nobody wrote about that):
The more apps I installed the longer I had to wait for the completion. The same with deinstallations! VERY strange.
I guess, also this experience should have made everybody cause it appeared very reliable at any CM version!
However, I thought I could live with that.

But now, after I installed about 15 own apps Trebouchet always crashed directly after I installed the 16th app. If I uninstall it Trebouchet is stable again.
Note: This happens with ANY additional app I install. So it is not caused by the app itself!
2nd note: I assume that this would have happened at CM13 and CM14 as well but I didn't install so many apps there caused by the mentioned unstability.

So please help me and let me know...
1) why the installation/deinstallation time systematically increases (up to 10 minutes and more) with the increasing number of installed apps?
2) why there is a limited number of apps I am allowed to install? (there is still enough space on my 6 GB ext3 F2FS partition left!)
3) how I can solve both problems but especially avoid the launcher crash?

Note: I tried another launcher but as soon as I call the app overview it crashes as well.
2nd note: My SD card: Lexar High-Performance microSDHC 633x 32GB UHS-I/U1 .

Thank you so much for your help!

Related system report

This is the related CM12 bugreport file.
Will there be anybody experienced enough to read it?...

I think its very strange since this rom is solid stable on my mango, almost for two months with every day usage.

Things to consider:
-i didnt install gapps zip because it is to heavy, i installed yalpstore and downloaded apps from this store.
-i only use it for some calls, mails and a few apps. I dont use camera etc.

If it is possible, i would consider avoiding the use of playservices.

Hello Winesh,
thank you very much for answering.

From your description I conclude that you cannot have my problems cause you didn't install many apps.
And as I described: my problem appears only if you install about 15 own apps. BEFORE everything was super fine!!

Furtheron this problem is not solved by e.g. doing the workaround leaving away Gapps.
First we should find out WHY there is this install. limitation and why installation gets slower with an increasing number of apps.
Only then we can find out what is wrong. Therefore I attached the logs.
Did you examine them?... Are you experienced in reading CM logs?...
What do you say about this one?

Anyway, why can my problem have s.th. to do with Gapps at all if e.g. in the beginning everything was very fine and super stable!?
Please let me know.

Thank you very much.

Regarding your explanation and the "limitation" you are describing, first thing I think of is ram usage. You know that these devices have little ram available and require sdcard for "fictive" ram support. So what could happen is that the 14 active apps where installed on your internal ram and number 15 is installed on sd cards fictive ram. Which compromises your system since, if all apps are active one app is constantly on sd.

So if we take my suggestion as an option (and keep in mind that I didn't read your logs), perhaps your sd card isn't high speedy enough. Or sdext implementation just isn't fluid enough.

Also keep in mind that these are 2010 devices, not build for current apps. This doesn't mean you can't these use apps, but clearly 15 apps is overkill for you system. Consider bringing this number down. Also don't underestimated the ram usage of playservices and gapps. Playservices and playstore correctly installed means eating up the half of your phones ram capacity. While alternatives like yalp takes around 7mb. So I would still advice you to not install gapps.

That's why I just deactivated GooglePlay Services in the meantime but there is no change at all.
The remaining part of your description I am not sure if I understood.
Considering ROM (internal memory) management I assume that you may not know about the Link2SD mechanisms, do you?
If you use the pro version (which is at my CM12.1 already built in (part of the custom ROM)) then you should know that the possibilities are nearly unlimited that way!

Furtheron the LegacyXperia developers NEVER mentioned anywhere anything about an app installation limitation !!!
And 15 apps is really not very high anyway.
They even suggested to create a 6GB ext SD partition to have enough space for the linked apps.

It would help me VERY much if we would not assume things BUT would find out for sure if there is still a limitation ALTHOUGH my systems says to still have free space of 3,5 GB available.
Do you know a way to ask the developers directly?
Unfortunately there was still nobody of them who answered me... (and who could also read the log)

Hello to all of you,
I would be happy already if someone of you would report about your experiences (with comparable conditions) and inform me if my problem is usual/known or an exception!
MANY thanks for that!

Your problem seems very unusual, if there is enough free space in all partitions. Can you provide a link to the 12.1 rom you use? If there is a smultron/mini version of it, i could try it on a spare device. You wrote it has Link2sd pro integrated, that seems very odd and perhaps illegal to me? Maybe you should try Lx11 instead, with a script like S2E_mod and a good sd like the new Sandisk A1 rated you should have the best performance. The last 14.1 is stable too, but much slower. Let's hope our developers start a new try, when Android Go sources are released.

My Xperia Neo (Hallon) is now on CM14.1 since about 2 months and I never had a better performance on this old device, but only since I installed the ROM without GAPPS.
This really made the difference!

See also my post below.

Regarding the reboots mentioned in the post I now set the minimum cpu frequency to the 2nd lowest and am now testing ...

I'm also getting amazing performance with my hallon but I'm using the Samsung Evo Plus and only after wiping everything even the internal data which was accidentally AND,
NO GAPPS!
I can even use multi window with some apps.
The ringing delay is still there, but only after about 3hrs of deep sleep and offline.

There was no Sim card detection with the May build so I went back to the March build which also has the TWRP included.

My issues are:
1. Almost regular reboots during charging, sometimes also in situations with low performance demand, but never during high workload.
2. Some apps like maps.me and HERE WeGo don't work at all, FC upon opening, Google maps is working, GPS is ok.
3. True 720p Video recording is working but the recorded volume is almost zero, need MX player with 200% to hear just a little bit during playback.

Anybody can help?
Thanks in advance!

Hello Nussbaum,
I am sorry for this delay.
It is Christmas time. But even more important is that I have even MORE Problems now as after all the described Trebouchet crashes the system suddenly didn't boot properly anymore. Just before the Pin-Input it stops booting.
And now I suddenly also cannot access the system recovery anymore, even after I reinstalled the LX kernel !!!
Why is that so and what can be done to repair the current installation?...
Before it didn't help anymore to make app deinstallations. Trebouchet crashed anyway.
All this is SO strange!...

This is the link to my ROM: https://basketbuild.com/devs/LegacyXperia/urushi/cm-12.1.
Please note:
I already tried CM-Version 13 (09112016) and 14 (23112016) but both are very unstable and crashed too often. Didn't you all made this experience as well?...
But this 12.1 version is very stable which shouldn't be just in my case, is it?

---------- Post added at 01:25 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:02 PM ----------

Before, you mentioned not to install GAPPS but...
* at CM 12.1 I don't think that my sudden Trebouchet crashes (after having made some app installations) are caused by that as I deactivated GAPPS before (which should be quite simular to Deinstallation, isn't it?) but didn't note any change/difference (s. above).
* at CM 13 or CM 14 (I also installed GAPPS) the ROM was unstable and NOT just too slow!!...

1. If you are unable to access recovery, enter fastboot and restart install instructions from step 1. (Excluding fastboot oem unlock of course)

2. Which gapps?
3. Get a logcat! Always!

To 1: Of course the method to make a COMPLETE reInstallation should help. But is there no clarification from you or anybody else WHY this can be possible?...
(a) How can Trebouchet crashes influence system recovery affairs?? Cause this is a complete different and isolated storage space. Is it possible that there still is an error in the (integrated) Link2SD script of CM12.1 ? Cause I could imagine that my general problem was that the past app installations may have confused/destroyed the whole storage Organisation caused by that mistake!!
(b) How is it possible that an LX kernel reinstalltion cannot fix the recovery access problem? Aren't the recovery AND the boot scripts are reinstalled by this flash? It should always help anyway!!! But why not in this case??...

To 2: HDPI_miniGAPPS-5.1.1-CM12-260dpi-20160822-signed.zip

To 3: Please inform me how I can activate and get a Logcat log of the boot process (real time or by file afterwards?). I couldn't find any useful infos about that.

Thank you very much.

How did you install lx kernel? Try fastbooting it, if you used recovery.

Trebuchet crash is probably a completely separate issue - get a logcat.

If you can't access fastboot, u r dead. Otherwise, just keep trying, and you will find a solution!

Interesting. Unlocked my bootloader, flashed kernel/recovery, now this ROM and GApps (mini 6.0). Reads "Preparing to start... Starting apps..." now! :D

I don't think that Trebouchet is a different issue cause it was the ONLY process that was happening after my last successfull access to the recovery!!!
Anyway, my questions 1a and 1b above are independent from Trebouchet. I ask how that can happen also in GENERAL!
So I really would find an answer to these 2 questions. Is there anybody who has an answer for that?

I don't understand your second answer, Hackintosh.
As I already mentioned: I cannot access recovery so there is just ONE chance/method I could have reinstalled the LX kernel: via fastboot!
So this answers your question.
Please read my message above once again...

And my question about logcat you also didn't answer but saying again to do it.
But this is just my question to your answer before: You asked me to do a second logcat to find out why I cannot access the recovery.
Also here: Please read my message above once again...

Thank you very much.

This is an attempt to stay close to official cm13.0 and not make crazy hacks to make things working.

This is a pure CM build, only contains official CM features. I will not add any other external feature/app/etc.

WARNING: This ROM uses a modified internal memory layout.
Our /system partition is originally 400MB but this space is not enough for a fluid experience and a full installation with proper google apps.
The internal storage has been repartitioned to give the whole space to /system & /cache. Your SD card will be used as the /data partition and emulated media storage like all modern devices.

Partition your SD card with exactly 1 partition. ALL DATA WILL BE LOST. Backup anything you need.
Basically, you need a normal SD card; if you repartitioned for Lollipop, you must revert that.
Format to F2FS or ext4 (F2FS is the new standard), or
if the partition is unformatted or FAT32, then it will automatically be formatted with F2FS later.
You can use Partition Wizard (Win) or GParted (Linux).

If you want to use this ROM you will always have to use the included kernel or use a kernel that includes the layour changes. Bug reports with non-standard kernels will be ignored.
You will have to wipe the device and make a clean install.
You cannot restore nandroid backups from previous android versions or restore backups from this ROM to other ROMs that don't use the new partition layout since you risk corrupting the data.
I suggest to use Titanium Backup, Helium or any other similar app to backup your data if you really need to.

    Requirements:
    * Have the stock ICS 4.1.B.0.587 full ftf flashed (doesn't matter if you have flashed it in the past or if you flash it before installing cm13.0, it will work both ways)
    * LT15i (Arc) users need to flash LT18i (Arc S) ftf
    * MT15i (Neo) users need to flash MT11i (Neo V) ftf
    * You need a fast SD card with good random read/write (usually class 10 or higher).

Steps required for correct installation (order is important):
1: Flash boot.img in fastboot & reboot into recovery
2 (optional): If the device is not booting, reboot to bootloader again and run:
    fastboot erase system
    3: Enter recovery
4: Format /system, then /data and then /cache (Important step!)
    5: Flash update zip
    6: Flash gapps

You need to flash gapps before booting into the ROM for the first time, else critical permissions will not be granted and you will have constant crashes, requiring a factory reset.

Steps 2, 4, 6 are not needed when you install new LX build on top of an older one in the future

If you want to return to a ROM that doesn't use the new partition layout, you need to follow the above steps again (only replace boot.img & update zip with the ones you want to use).

After the recent 20161025 CM-11.0 release some donations have come in to support the VPS server. (It's hosting Gerrit to manage changes and future releases for LegacyXperia).

These donations are much appreciated, thanks everyone who donated! If you haven't yet, but would still like to materialize a 'thanks' to Mike and LegacyXperia, please feel free to donate here :good:
