Infinity War: Blah Blah Blah Action. Blah Blah Blah Explosions. Blah Blah Blah Funny Dialogue. None of it means anything because:

Whatever brave choices they made in this movies will be for nothing. It will all be made right in the next one. Kill some characters this time? No problem, we'll do some time shifting in the next one and bring them all back again. It's inevitable.

Marvel have completely failed to recapture the magic of the first Iron Man, release after release. More is not better. Entertaining, yes, but not a transcendent experience and all too soon forgotten.

Very interesting. In the cinemas in Asia apparently people in cinemas are clapping their hands during the movie. I think there was almost too much action.. became more like an arcade game at some point... but some of the laugh out loud bits were hilarious (though not many). I personally liked Infinity War 10x more than Black Panther.. maybe because I was always a Thor and Spidey fan.

[SOME SPOILERS DO NOT READ AFTER HERE]

[SPOILERS]

In Infinity war there were some bad CGI moments.. like when the professor is standing in iron hulk after the last battle... the CGI is really bad if you look closely.

Ya I didn't like it being half a movie.. but I guess it had so many characters that there was no other way... I would have preferred the end of last scene with Thanos to say "to be continued" or end of part 1.
[SPOILERS]
I think that coolest bit was when Thor arrives with his new weapon and boom. People were clapping in the cinemas.

Some small hilarious bits also like when the other guy imitates how Thor speaks. and gets jealous.

I just enjoyed it because seeing different characters together and the funny parts. I didn't enjoy the arcade game mass too much action stuff at wakanda.. got a bit dizzying didnt it?

[END OF SPOILERS]

TL / DR : But over all I might watch it again on DVD and I liked when the characters met each other first time. I give it a 8.5/10. I thought it was much better than Black Panther. What happens in the next one is obvious.. unfortunately.

I liked Spinning Man too. A no nonsense, low key Thriller. The imdb score is surprisingly low. Perhaps it helps to be a Guy Pierce fan. You might enjoy The Vanishing, a movie that starred Kiefer Sutherland and Jeff Bridges. It's a subtle Thriller too.

I liked Mark Kermodes review of IW. He summed up a lot of how i felt about the film. There's not enough time spent with each character to feel any emotional attachment. He went on to say that Blade Runner 2049 was more what he considers perfect for length, amount of action, pace etc. As that was my favourite last year i wholeheartedly agree. I certainly don't need the high octane, action packed, CGI fests that appeal to the ADHD generation.

CGI itself is boring now and it's rarely used well. In Blade Runner it was so subtle. Enhancing and expanding backdrops to scenes rather than as a blurry succession of ultra-fast cuts stitched together. And where's the atmosphere? Does it ever rain in the MCU? Spielberg nailed it in Jurassic Park. The T-Rex breakout scene in the dark. The Rain scenes. So much atmosphere and tension. Where's that in Marvel films? DCU is actually doing a better job of that at the moment.

agree Bladerunner was best if not one of best.

just watched "You Were Never Really Here". Excellent. Almost like a Stanley Kubrick x John Wick movie. Ultra violent. Superb acting by Joaquin Phoenix. Great cinematography, excellent sound and good music arrangements. Really enjoyed it. Good plot twists. 8.5/10.

You Were Never Really Here is excellent. I totally agree. There's something special about revenge Thrillers where people get their comeuppance! Especially when it comes to innocents in danger and a flawed 'hero'. The best examples are Man On Fire and the Korean version, The Man From Nowhere. Both have adorably cute child actresses and redeemable, but flawed, male leads. The former is my favourite Tony Scott film, (better even than True Romance, which itself was written by Quentin Tarantino, no less). Denzel Washington and Dakota Fanning are great on screen together.

I'd also recommend Payback starring Mel Gibson, for a great revenge thriller. It's simple and awesome.

Just saw the latest Avenger movie in IMAX 3D (Avengers: Infinity War) and found it very entertaining. Slammed full of good 3D special effects which after all, is the main reason why I go to see a movie like this. I give it an 8/10.

Paterno - great performance by Al Pacino. overall good movie. 7/10

The 15:17 to Paris - Long drawn out first 3/4 of the movie so slow... almost u lost interest.. but it builds up and has a good ending. Worth watching I guess. 7/10.

Samson - Boring and bad acting. About Samson and Delilah. Bad script. Bad cinematography. Almost fell asleep a few times... The kiddies might like the action fights. 3/10.

update; I watched " The 15:17 to Paris" again.. just realised that the actors are the actual guys who stopped the terrorist in real life. They played themselves in the movie. I give it an 8/10 in that case. impressive. and its a good true story.

TB! How are you dude?

Game Night is worth watching. Lot's of genuinely funny, laugh out loud moments. Comedic version of David Finchers 'The Game', with other nods to the great Director.

Annihilation (Netflix) - wow much better than I expected.. Some great twists in concepts and ideas. Some good effects. Great sound. Nathalie Portman is great. really enjoyed this type of "what is it, why am i here, suspense part scifi part thriller" movies. 8/10. highly watchable. If u liked the style of the movie "Predators" then you will like this.

Terminal - I can see this one polarising opinion. I personally loved it. Stylish Crime Thriller starring Margot Robbie, Mike Myers and Simon Pegg.

"In the dark heart of a sprawling, anonymous city, TERMINAL follows the twisting tales of two assassins carrying out a sinister mission, a teacher battling a fatal illness, an enigmatic janitor and a curious waitress leading a dangerous double life. Murderous consequences unravel in the dead of night as their lives all intertwine at the hands of a mysterious criminal mastermind hell-bent on revenge."

Ready Player One - Read the book and the movie doesn't do it justice. There's some good moments but i thought it could have looked better.

Anon- Pretty decent movie in a similar vein to Gatacca. A futuristic look at what could happen if there were no privacy left at all.

Terminal and Anon sounds really interesting, tks, will try watch.

Ya Ready Player One I not watched yet because because say its either extremely good or extremely bad.. But I think will put on my list to watch also..

I watched "Deadpool 2" - Hilarious. Lives up to the hype. Really big laugh out loud moments. The crowd in cinema were clapping few times during movie. I thought it was more enjoyable than Avengers Infinity war and Black Panther. I give DP2 a 9/10.

I haven't even seen DP2 yet but i know already i will agree with you 100%. It's the one part of the MCU that's not just copy and paste, but dares to be different. The first movie really grew on me over time.

Revenge - Gratuitous revenge porn. Plot wise it's similar to the once banned I Spit On Your Grave. While that was far more realistic, gritty with a stronger impact, this movie has a more in-your-face and modern approach. There's something to be said about leaving some things to the imagination and in Revenge, they took the opposite approach. Leave nothing to the imagination! While that may not be the most subtle way to tell a story, it is the most vomit inducing.

There are scenes here that will definitely turn even the the hardiest stomach. Think back to the original Poltergeist with it's 'pull your own face off into the sink' moment. It's not dissimilar. The setting is interesting though, but the movie is so shot full of plot contrivences that you really have to suspend disbelief. It's kinda enjoyable if you're in the mood for some Horror.

If you do like this sort of fare i would highly recommend the Korean Thriller 'I Saw The Devil'. A far more impactful revenge movie with a more satisfying purpose. Revenge is something to watch when you've seen everything else.

Dark Crimes - Jim Carrey movie. Alot of suspense in beginning, acting is not bad... but the story line is predictable, simplistic and it is obviously a low budget movie made in a foreign country (seems the trend now) . The movie ends flat and you think "was that it?“ expecting more or some deep complex finale. bit it isn't. So it is worth watching I guess if it is late night and there is nothing else on. I give it a 6/10.

Enjoyed watching. kinda like a black-mirror-hulk-Flash-another-dimension-prometheus bit of everything movie.

Have you seen Thoroughbreds yet? It's an excellent movie. Great cast, well acted, with a great score and excellent camera work.

A Quiet Place - Really enjoyable. Full of plot holes and nonsense, but a great watch anyway.

I also watched the Death Wish remake. It was very average.

good suggestions.. will check them out.

Watched "Solo: A Star Wars Story" - Good movie. Not as laugh out loud as Deadpool2 but still good. "Solo" was a great "bio" and it was really eye opening to see the back story how Han Solo got his name, how he met Chewy and to see his first time ever flying the Millenium Falcon. Lots of plot nice twists. Good ending. CGI is acceptable and old school and good, especially if you liked the first star wars movie. The acting of the younger actors is clearly not as good as the older actors and the younger Han solo actor is not as good as Harrison Ford, but it all comes together OK. Overall a good very enjoyable movie for the fact that it explains alot. Some nice surprises. I will definitely watch it a second time if I get the chance later.
8.5/10

Some of you may have heard of the IMDb Top 250 Challenge, whereby you watch every movie on the list within a year. I've decided to do something similar, as a way to ensure that i am amply entertained over the coming months. I'm pretty certain i've seen most of what is on the list at present, but it'll be fun to watch the movies that i haven't, but should have seen. So that's what i am going to do!

To make it easier i've Excel'ed the list and printed a copy to make it easy ticking off the movies as i go. First i have to go through the list and mark off the ones i've already seen, and find out how many there are yet to see.

I've attached the list in case anybody else wants to make use of it.

Edit: Been having a play at the IMDb quiz's found on the Top 250 Page. They're pretty good fun!
