This is the procedure I followed for updating the zImage and its modules
Please make a copy of your entire Android folder from Windows Mobile and place it in a safe place before you start this procedure.
Please Note: This is a quick and dirty explanation of all the steps I did in order to get the latest kernel installed. This is not supposed to be a detailed guide but it should get you started. And of course I cannot be held responsible if something goes wrong!
Go here:
http://oe.netripper.com/files/htcleo_autobuild/
and download:
modules-htcleo-latest.tgz and zImage-htcleo-latest.
Create a folder c:\KERNEL (or wherever you prefer)
Rename zImage-htcleo-latest to zImage. Copy zImage to C:\KERNEL
Go to
http://git.linuxtogo.org/?p=groups/mobile-linux/kernel.git;a=blob_plain;f=startup-htcleo.txt;h=901b94e744ccaf3fdc48841717d52ca3aeb24ded;hb=d5c34767e98f9d7bd392f7c638b83041c81d3e7b and you will see the text for the STARTUP.txt file. Select all that text and using notepad paste it into a file called STARTUP.txt and copy that new file to C:\KERNEL
In Windows install 7zip if you don't have it already. Extract the contents of modules-htcleo-latest.tgz into a folder. Don't worry about the 4 symbolic link errors. Windows doesn't know what to do with Symbolic Links.
Navigate to
modules-htcleo-latest\lib\modules\2.6.32.9-38146-g0e85f8c\kernel\drivers\net and copy tun.ko to C:\KERNEL
Navigate to
modules-htcleo-latest\lib\modules\2.6.32.9-38146-g0e85f8c\kernel\drivers\net\wireless\bcm4329_204 and copy bcm4329.ko to C:\KERNEL
You will need the ADB drivers and tools.
Go to
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html and download the Java SDK for your Windows version. Install it.
Go to
http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html and download android-sdk_r06-windows.zip.
Unzip with 7zip to any folder in your hard disk.
Navigate to
android-sdk_r06-windows\android-sdk-windows and run "SDK Setup.exe"
On the left pane select "Installed Packages". On the lower right select refresh and then click on Update All (this may take a while).
Now download and install Droid Explorer from
http://de.codeplex.com/
During installation you are asked for the Android development folder. Navigate to
android-sdk_r06-windows\android-sdk-windows and finish the installation.
If your device is not recognized in Windows, you need to go to Device manager and you may see an undefined device. Update its drivers using the drivers in
android-sdk_r06-windows\android-sdk-windows\usb_driver
I hope that you are still with me at this point because this is about to end...
Start Droid Explorer. It may hang on first try. Kill it with Task Manager and start it again.
Using Windows Explorer navigate to C:\KERNEL, select the two KO files, right click and copy.
Go back to Droid Explorer and navigate to System/lib/modules and paste the two KO files.
Properly shutdown Android and boot into Windows Mobile. Using Explorer copy STARTUP.txt and zImage to your Android folder in your SD Card (basically replacing those two existing files).
Start Android as you normally do.
