Ok, let's try this again.
I started with a stock VZW S5 again, rooted using towelroot, and running KitKat 4.4.2.
I then followed the directions as posted in post 1, using Safe Strap, and after I flashed the OD5 bootloader, the phone rebooted, and I saw a screen saying "Safestrap Disabled".
Then it booted up, showed up in my windows explorer as "CD drive D", then rebooted into "Recovery mode", and shows me the dead android, and Android system recovery.
I wiped cache partition, got the same "Safestrap disabled" screen, got into Safestrap, factory reset the device, and rebooted again.
Same "Safestrap disabled" screen, shows up again in my Windows explorer as "CD drive D", blank screen for a full minute, then it reboots itself into "recovery booting", and "Android system recovery.
What am I doing wrong?
