Holy crap! I can't believe it's suddenly this simple. Although now that I have both I'm realizing the Samsung voice doesn't sound too bad by comparison. Lol

And for those who have already installed using the method on this thread, it's perfectly safe to install the update from the play store. In case anyone was wondering.

I would actually like it to sound like that. I downloaded the high quality British samsung voice files and set it as the preferred engine on my Note 3, but the Google Maps navigation still uses the crappy robotic voice. I even tried installing the Google TTS engine and using that, but it still reverts to using the robotic voice during navigation. How did you get it to work? Am I missing something?

1. Download and unzip the attached file.
2. Place "" and "" in /system/lib/ and set permissions to 644.
3. Place "GoogleTTS.apk" in /system/app/ and set permissions to 644.
4. Reboot
5. Go to Settings-> Accessibility-> Text-to-speech options, and select Google Text-to-speech Engine.
6. Enjoy!

Confirmed working on SM-N900P, but it should work with all others too.

I am forever grateful. Fixed the endless crashes of my rooted S8+. Apparently it works for a lot of Samsung smartphones. Many options in settings would trigger "Settings has stopped" and everything would crash. I was about to do a factory reset or reflash. No more crashes and Google TTS chosen by default....
