Agree! I`ve read and asked several questions about this, there might be an option installing the OTA of Thailand, but I did not got any response yet.

Since you have Qualcomm based device, you can't root it or change CSC. The only way for you is to downgrade to Android 8.

You have Exynos based device and you can change CSC code using the following instruction (it works for S8 as well): https://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...l-csc-t3870836

I was using root. Could that be the problem?

You should try root method only if standard api fails

Thanks. I changed to the canary magisk and used the standard api and it's working fine.

[Edit: this seems to have fixed itself when I did a Havoc or firmware update on Mi 6x.]

During calls on speakerphone, my screen sometimes turns on - ie when I press the power button to turn off the screen, it turns on a second later.

Could it be the Call Recorder app doing this, and is there a way to fix or override this?

(I'm using the stock android dialler which doesn't seem to have a setting related to this. Havoc ROM on Mi 6x.)

It constantly uses accelerometer as reported by Betterbatterystats. Why accelerometer access is required? This will cause unnecessary battery drain.
Screenshots are attached.

I have no idea why it says it uses accelerometer, there's no such code in the app. The only sensor the app uses is proximity.
