Bro you be cluttering this OP
I had the same message. The solution was to install adaway then reboot before doing anything. After the reboot it was working.Ok, so I tried to enable AdAway again and I get the same exact errors as before. Saying “not enough space on partition” and then when I switch the directory to the other 2 options available (/data/hosts and /data/data/hosts) it immediately fails and asks to create a symslink and when I tap “yes,” it instant fails.
For reference again: using a Moto X4 on LineageOS. NOT using Magisk, using AddonSU. I wonder if this is just a bug with AdAway?
Also, this is what I meant showed up when I said “a bunch of stuff”:

If you're using su add-on from lineage, have you gone into developer options to check if you've granted root permission? It will have options like, apps, apps and ADB, and none.Mind me asking how to keep Magisk auto-updated? Which script is it in your Odds and Ends post? I installed Magisk.
EDIT: For what it's worth, AdAway worked fine with Magisk installed. Had to resort to using Magisk instead of AddonSU.

You need to give root permission, basically turning on root. Select apps or apps and ADB and try adaway again.
If it was set to none, you're not giving adaway permission to write to system. Hence the message, "not enough room on partition". It can't write to /system.
When you ran adaway, did it ask for superuser permission?
I rooted OnePlus 7 Pro and wanted to make OTA update. But as a newbie I didn't turn off fingerprint lock before reboot. OP 7 Pro just froze after reboot on PIN screen and turned off to stock recovery. I could only make a hard reset. After that my OP 7 Pro turned on. I make one more time root process - fastboot boot twrp.img > in TWRP Install Recovery Ramdisk from twrp.img > Flash Magisk.zip. But now Adaway doesn't work and I tried everything - granted root access, permission to write in memory, in adaway systemless option turn on same in Magisk. Can you please help me? Uninstall and install adaway didn't help me. Everything looks good but advertises are still display.
Use private dns adguard if you're on Pie
No problems with AdAway on Pie here...
Yes it works great. [emoji41]
No. But did you enable systemless hosts file in MagiskManager?Sorry if I missed this, but 13k+ posts is a lot to read through...
When I reboot my phone, I always have to re-enable systemless mode and enable Adaway again. Is this normal behavior?
Spark and if you have xposed minmin guard and you good to gowhich energized host file should i use? i have low end phone, i just want to block ads in the apps, for web browsing i have inbuilt brave adblock.
If I'm right, 4.2.6 is the most recent official version from opDoes anyone have the link to 4.2.7? @xXx included it in 7.4 of No Limits but I can't find it anywhere else.
Most probably an android problem. Maybe open an issue report on GitHub.I use Adaway non-rooted via VPN on a xiaomi redmi note 13 pro+. It works fine, except that it does not automatically start after a reboot. Any ideas why not?
I did:
Ever since I set the Always-on VPN, I get a message after reboot (before providing the unlock code for the first time): "Disconnected from always-on VPN — Change network or VPN settings".
- Selected "Background autostart"
- Set Battery saver to "No restrictions"
- Set Always-on VPN in preferences
- Set Block connections without VPN" in preferences
Adaway is supposed to start automatically after a reboot, right?
Thanks for helping!
It's always blatently (NEVER automatically )asks me on a data clear, just tried it and gotI have been using Adaway, both rooted and non root versions, for several years. My phone broke last week, and while I wait for a replacement I am using a borrowed stock Oneplus 9. It is running Android 14, with no other VPN apps. When I install Adaway, it installs the root version, so I get a systemless host error. It used to install the correct version automatically, is there any way to force it to install the non root version?
GitLab, like GitHub do not set LastModified HTTP header so update status is not supported... yet!Is anyone using a hosts list hosted on Gitlab? It keeps showing "Unknown update status".
It works well here. I failed to reproduce as I change the HTTP client library and how I use it.Hmm, not working for me for this URL, v4.1.0 shows something like not updated in -360 days (some large negative value). Can you please see if you can reproduce?

Not really. You could choose a lot of different mode. All the F-Droid apps I know of have manual push updates to the store.
Isn't automatic build basically for nightlies?
Thank you so much! :highfive:I exist still... do you know what i have to do to transfer ownership? if i edit project it doesn't let me change the primary author so i assume i have to PM some higher up to make this happen?
Thank you too!
