Exclamation Won't boot
I'm coming back to this ROM after a break, but no matter what I do I cannot get it to boot. I've done a full wipe, I've wiped cache and dalvik more times than I can count... but on each clean install I can't get past the "android" splash screen.

What recovery have you guys been using to flash?

The only thing that's really changed is I install 4ext recovery, used to use Clockworkmod.

I can flash other ROMs, like Alterndromadus and PureKat, it's just Jelly Baby that won't work... any ideas?

Problem solved. This ROM does NOT like 4ext. I changed back to clockworkmod and it works.

Hi mate, glad to hear you got it working. However, I've been using this ROM for ages and always used 4ext, never had a problem. Just make sure you use the latest version.
I'm using v1.6 of this ROM with android L keyboard and Xposed with Xblast to give transparent status bar. Looks great, runs smooth.

I really want to learn how to open ROMs up so that I can tailor it to how I want. Remove the email app, swap out the launcher etc.

If that's all you want to do then you're in luck, super easy
Download 7zip
Unzip ROM
Go to /system/app
Delete what you want
Add what you want
Zip up ROM and set compress to store
Then either sign it (many programs to do for you
Or
Toggle signature verification in recovery
Flash your new ROM
But if you're after doing much more you will have a lot more work. But what you want to do is a great starting place to learn!
Best of luck!

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I had been playing with this, but was really worried I'd bugger it up.
I bet you can guess what I'll be playing with this bank holiday weekend. Thanks again for that.

In case anyone else is interested I found this page on XDA university http://xda-university.com/as-a-user/...d-rom-tweaking
