Hello,

I just replaced my digitizer following the correct steps, but now I am not able to hear any calls made. Also I am not able to receive calls. I can make calls and talk and people can hear me on the other line but I cannot hear them. Furthermore, my phone can make sounds, the speaker works but its just a problem with the calls.

Can anybody help me?

Thanks,
Manoj

You either damaged the speaker or didn't reattach it properly. Most phone sounds come out of the speaker on the back of the phone. The speaker on the front is only used in phone calls.

After replacing my first time it happened to me a identical situation.
The case of the microphone was a loose connection, I opened and put the microphone correctly.
However, the digitizer was not functioning properly due to the space that was between the digitizer and the rest of the phone, which let in dust making it not work properly. I used double sided adhesive tape, placed over the black part to seal and not get dust and was working properly.

PS: there is a black rubber on the top right (I think it is the light sensor) that do not stay in place, for example during a call the screen goes black and returns to normal only after intense light on the sensor.

Sorry for bad english!

wow. Just replaced my gf's Aria digitizer and am having EXACTLY the same issue. Works fine until a call comes in or is sent, and then the screen blacks out and they can hear you but not the other way around, and screen won't come BACK on until you pull the battery.

Speaker is fine, at least the loud speaker, as startup noises, youtube, etc. play fine.

Also interestingly, the first time I reassembled it the display looked fine, on subsequent take-aparts trying to address the issue, the bottom of the LCD is lighting up too much and the individual led's are visible beneath the nav butttons on the bottom of the screen.

Hoping ATT will send a new one. Eww.

Hi!

I know it has been a really long time since you posted this but I am hoping that you still check xda every once in a while. I replaced my digitizer and the front housing cover of my phone yesterday and am since experiencsing the exact same problems with my back speaker and a small strip on my phone does not respond to touch (this includes the bottom right button which is the menu button I suppose? The one with the two squares on it). Now my question was, since you tried again using double sided tape and was actually able to fix it, if I could just use a blowdryer to melt the new digitizer off the front housing without damaging it so I can reattach it with the tape. I did get the tape along with the parts, but because my front housing was already very sticky I thought that it would be fine to just press the touchscreen on there. But if I now heat the digitizer up in order to remove it, will I still be able to use it afterwards?
Also, with the speaker... I never touched that thing so I really don't know what happened to that. You talked about a loose connection.. what connection would that be? Because the only thing I see on that speaker are two metal parts sticking out which I think have to make contact with the two metal blocks that are placed directly in front of them.
I'm really desperate because I really can't afford to get a new phone so this needs to be fixed! Please help! If anyone else knows, also feel free to reply, but just.... thanks in advance people
