Isn't it amazing that instead of the app giving us a message that you will need certain number of posts before you can upload a photo, it says "Bad Request"
I assume you are talking about official xda app / xda labs. So yeah this is a known API limitation. https://github.com/Wood-Man/XDA-Labs-Issues-and-Suggestions/issues/39

Backend API and probably the app itself would need a fix indeed but along with a lot of other bugs. Just a matter of priority and also ressource/time on xda's end.

:)

You either have the possibility attach insert a image, which is uploaded to somewhere into the cloud (like my hidden example below to framapic.org) into your thread or to attach your locally stored images to your thread (see attached screenshots; in this case the images are uploaded to XDA).
What exactly did you attempt?

I just want to attach a screenshot from my phone screen that I downloaded to my local drive.
Anyway, while reply to your post, I see the option "Attachments" and I can add my image.
But from one of others, I didn't have this option.....it's weird

You can only add images (or anything else) to your own posts, or do you pretend to be also thotran7989? You have no permissions to add/attach anything to a post of another member.

Additionally, I suggest to only use "reply" or "multi-quote" instead of "quick reply" if you want to attach something.

Thank you for your comment. You're correct, when I try "Reply" the full option shows up. I did use "Quick Reply"...and that's the problem occur.

Not being able to upload files is one of some intented limitations of XDA website for its very new members (junior members with less than 10 posts).

The "bad request" error shown within XDA mobile app is a generic backend error. In that case it's all about permissions, the same as for the website.

After 10 (useful) posts, you should be able to upload files using both a web browser and XDA app.

By upload, do you also include image links? I have an image on my google drive. I added the link to that image in one of my posts. While the post did not show any errors, the image is not showing up when I view that post now.

Did the link you inserted between these tags
had the .img (or similar for a picture) at the end. If I want to insert pictures I usually don't upload to google but to https://imgbb.com/ or https://imgur.com/ (for permanent availability but require registration) or to https://framapic.org/.

    Hi All,
Does posting an image through google photo link show the link or the image itself?

    Thanks
    Sukesh

Getting a link from Google Photos that work on XDA takes a few steps.
    1. Upload photo
    2 Click share
    3. Create Link
    4. Copy Link (e.g. https://photos.app.goo.gl/UEaPt7h8m6WaUqGd7
(The reason this link doesn't work is it's a link to a web page not a direct link to an image.)
    5. Open link in a browser (on mine it has a white background)
    6. Click on the photo so it opens to a new page. (on mine it has a black background)
    7. Copy image address.
    8. Wrap very largely address in the image code.
    Code:
    [PLAIN][Img] Paste Link Here [/Img][/PLAIN]

Image Link You are looking for, should look like this ridiculously long code.

guys, do you see my attached gifs properly in the below post?
    https://xdaforums.com/showpost.php?p=79091367&postcount=4

for me they stop halfway or wont load at all, this is not the first time i have problems with images.
is this on my side or serverside? thx.
I'm able to watch the two gif's without any problems. No issues here.

Ok, cannot figure for the life of me. I try using both Google image site to share and also 500px site as well. And can't resolve the insert image site. Is it because it's pointing to https secure site instead of http only? Also, when I scroll down, I do not see the file or upload in my browser from the pc. However, from the XDA app on my phone, I see the attachment icon and choose the image but it errors out 'Bad Request'. I try to resize and using different images and getting the same error.

    Thanks

Same here. Just asked concerning an issue with installing Magisk, and I have detailed screenshots showing error messages. It’s a pity that I cannot upload them to make it easier for others to help me.
    Hi,

You need to reach 10 (useful) posts to be able to use attachment feature. Did you read this here below? (from previous page):
