Split dump.bin into NK.bin, ...
Hi.

I made a ROM dump with grab_it and now I'd like to split it into sections to finally have NK.bin, TINYNK.bin, Drivers.bin and chain.bin as this is the only format my CE5 device supports.
Please, could someone give me a "dummies" guideline howto?
BTW: I've been through ALL the pages, really!

Well i wrote this bad and nasty tool to do the dirty work... )

all you need is a SD card and this tool.

Setup
- rename 'grab_it_xx.exe' to 'autorun.exe'
- create folder '2577' on your (empty) SD/MMC/Mini-SD card
- copy 'autorun.exe' to this folder

That's it for the "setup" )

Usage
Now every time, when you insert this card into PPC it will grab the ROM image and save it into root of the card as 'dump.bin'.
It will show you a tiny red progress bar at the very bottom of the screen.
Once done, it will beep the default sound.
Message boxes are only shown in case of error.

IMPORTANT NOTE (thanx MDAIIIuser)
YOU MUST NOT put it back into another device!!!
YOU MUST LOCK THE SD CARD FIRST!!!!!

or read the SD with card reader on your desktop PC.
Otherwise, you will rewrite the dump with your own ROM!!!!

This ROM dump file can be then further processed and converted to flashable formats.

it is a real spy tool ))) i mean 007 kind of... )))))

Now there are few new versions.
They are for grabing different amount of ROM.

Please note, that you will need a card which is bigger than the ROM size.
32MB dump -> fits onto 64MB card
64MB dump -> fits onto 128MB card
128MB dump -> fits onto 256MB card

THANX for pieces of mamaich's code...

Enjoy

Buzz,

i was about to follow your stepd but found on my 512mb sd card there already is a folder named 2577 with autorun.exe in it...

how do i check if ROM has been dumped? look for the dump.bin file in root of sd?

if ROM has not been dump then how do i dump it if 2577 folder is already in my sd with autorun.exe in it?

how to i get the dump file flashable?

About 4-5 years ago I was still using a Windows Mobile phone, the Toshiba Portege G910, a very rare device.
I used this tool to dump its rom because I wanted to help the community to build the first ever custom rom for this device, but the passion for Win Mobile was alrerady waned...
Today I found on my HDD my old dump, I would like to know how to extract its content. Toshiba included a fantastic all-in-one txt/pdf/image app that would be really cool to export and preserve, since none has the .cab;

If anyone wants my dump or wants to tell me how to extract its files, I'm here!
Thank you
