This is not a FRESH ROM problem only, but I thought I would ask you fine folks here, as I am using the latest FRESH ROM, and love it!

I have been seeing all too many folks complaining about their 3G speeds droping horribly! Some seem to think it is the new PRI 1.77, others the new radio 2.15.00.09.01, and some say the newer NV 1.7, and even others say all THREE new updates are causing the 3G speeds to drop. Any thoughts? Should I try back dating to the older radio, or PRI, or NV, or what?

Also, and it makes sense, some have mentioned that due to the poor 3G signal, the phone is in constant "cell tower search" mode, and that could be causing the battery drain issues.

You thoughts?

PS: If I have to backdate, can someone make a PC36IMG.ZIP file for me (or the rest of us) with the files we need? Reason being, I have constantly had problems when trying to install the Wimax, Radio, PRI, and NV updates manually in recovery mode (using both RA 1.8 or latest Clockwork, both error out, just in different ways). The phone seems to install the files, but when it reboots, it goes back to the recovery screen, and depending on which recovery I use, shows something different, but most likely the same problem. For instance, in RA, it is stuck at FORMATTING CACHE.... and with Clockwork, it will say something like BUILD NOT SET. But when I use the PC36IMG.ZIP file, it will install just fine. TIA!!!!

My 4G speeds increased with the new updates. I didnt test my 3G speeds prior, but I dont feel a difference.

When I first flashed this rom (3.3.0.1) I was having issues with battery life. I then completely charged the phone while it was turned off (to ensure a complete charge based off the internal chip in the battery vs. what the phone thinks is a full charge) then I wiped the battery stats in recovery.

That was over 36 hours ago and my phone finally ran the battery dead over lunch. All running with the stock kernel. This was done with light to moderate use using 3G and Wifi -- some youtube videos, gmail syncing, gtalk running, browsing xda, gps turned on, etc. No 4G in my area to see how much more battery life that would use.

That's interesting. I may try that tonight. How long was it lasting prior to you doing this?

And for others asking...

This is not a question of poor battery life. This is more the fact that many are noticing a significant difference in battery life with this kernal and 3.2.

This was my first go using Fresh....When I first flashed this rom, I only got about 10 hours of battery life. Prior to this I was using Ava's Froyo V6 and getting anywhere from 12-20 hours use with the stock kernel. Like others have already said, using Wifi dramatically increases battery life.

Battery life with netch 4.1.9 is treating me well.
3 hours since last charge Ive made 7 min call , sent 5 text messages & woke up device 8 times 10 minutes of play battery lifes at 91%.
With new HTC kernel I would be mid low 80s

Wasn't as active on my phone today and it did sit overnight. Spent about an hour on the phone and light-med text messaging thoughout the day. I normally get around 21 hours.

I'm having a serious issue with roaming I live in central florida and in some areas the sprint service suck. I'm currently running the latest fresh rom as well as the latest klick kernel I have tried also stock kernel same thing. Currently have flashed pri 1.77 and I also had pri 1.43 and the same problem happened. When ever I try to make a call and if I'm in an area where there is no signal and I have to roam. Usually it is verizon towers when I call it says that you for calling verizon we are sorry we cannot authenticate your phone please call verizon customer service. If I try to call again several times it will actually xfer me over to an operator for verizon and ask me if I'm placing an international call. So I can not roam onany network because my phone can not be authenticated has anybody had this issue. Thank you please any help or adivse I would greatly apperciate thank you

I am having the same issue, but I am running the [new] stock odexed HTC rom, so it doesn't have anything to do with the Fresh Rom specifically, and people at Sprint can't figure it out because they are idiots...
so I just make them give me a credit!

My phone has been on 12 hours 40 min, wifi on the ENTIRE time, sending emails, making calls, sending texts, browsing web...and still at 51% battery left. This is night and day difference from the rom I was running prior (Vaelpak).

Wish it had some aosp programs like email, dialer/contacts, clock, and sms...but I can live without those.

Is there a way to enable the Vanilla Answer function. I like the Vanilla Unlock, but I'd like for the answer/decline to be the same way.

Awesome rom though. Definitely my favorite so far.

Use es file manager set it for root with write permissions copy and paste to /system/app folder and it should work

E: it should be installed after doing this open app drawer to see if you try to install by touching on the apk it will just give you an error message

This does not work, at least for me. I've tried adb, root explorer, es file explorer, plus 1 or 2 others. They do allow me to copy the app to /system/app, but they don't install it. Adb gripes about INSTALL_PARSE_FAILED_NO_CERTIFICATES. Everything else just says "install failed".

Is anyonesering their click go fast by 30 mins. It's easy to fizz just go to setting unselect and reselect update via network then it corrects. But thought it might be a bug.

If it allows you to copy and paste then you're done it should show up in your app drawer or under widgets which ever it is you are installing. The apk is the program not a compressed install file.

your phone says ~14hrs unplugged at 9am...did you just leave it unplugged overnight because my battery doesn't drain much overnight either.

I'd love to see a ~14-18hr unplugged screenshot at 10pm or midnight

Have to say.. I'm pretty impressed with the over all speed on this Rom. Guessing its due to the fps unlocked by HTC but I like it. I was running launcher pro before.. never ran aosp. I like sense tho I thought battery life could be affected by sense? Although I. Didn't notice much difference between any of the. Rom.. a regular "heavy" usage day for me. Is around 10-30 text.. a couple emails.. web for maybe an hour or two total.. 15-20 min phone. Call cuz I'm at work and my battery is at 15% within 5-6 hrs.. do I need a. New battery?

I have about the same scenario as you. I can get maybe 10-12. When I check what is using my battery it pretty much is a majority split between android system and cell standby. I'm curious if the cell stand by is what is killing us so quickly. Perhaps having a mid level signal is hurting the battery being the phone sends extra data back and forth for error correction. I also see no difference to my battery when using wifi at home, 4g at work, and 3g around the town (4g not available everywhere here)

UPDATE: Nevermind, I did it the old fashioned way (scrolled through pages and pages) and found it. ;-)

Hey guys,

I could have sworn I saw the other day someone in this thread had posted the kernel for 3.3 as a standalone zip? I flashed netarchy to test and now want to go back to the HTC kernel but I can't find it.

Can anyone help me out?

    • Updated Google Maps to 5.0.0

    • Updated ES File Explorer to 1.4.8.6
    • The OTA brought a lot of behind the scenes changes, but also some new apps. I removed most as they are things you could already get off the market. Here's what I did with everything. Keep in mind that some of these apps can be re-installed by clicking in a file browser, while some must be copied to /system/app/ manually:
      • SWYPE -- left this for now
      • WM DRM 10 -- left this for now
      • Blockbuster -- moved to /sdcard/fresh-removed-apks-3/)
      • Adobe Reader -- moved to /sdcard/fresh-removed-apks-3/)

      • New Sprint TV -- moved to /sdcard/fresh-removed-apks-3/)
    • New radio (baseband), wimax radio, and PRI and NV can all be found on Fresh Updater after flashing 3.5 or downloaded below.
    • 3.5.0.1: Fixed market bug
    • 3.5.0.1: Fixed location bug
    • 3.5.0.1: Fixed busybox / root apps FC'ing bug
    • 3.5.0.1: I wanted to give a shout out to skullmonkey, mrgq1111, Rolland985 and gordon ramsay (he yells a lot) for sitting in tinychat with me and trying every market fix I threw at them. And an extra special thanks to mrgq1111 for letting me remote in to his computer so I could work on the issue on his phone (because I couldn't duplicate the problem on mine). I wouldn't have been able to fix it without that.

Changes from Fresh Evo 3.3.0.1 to 3.4.0.1:
    • Based on a new Sprint OTA (3.30.651.2)
    • New kernel by HTC (g0f673ed)
      • Modified slightly to allow apps2sd and remount to work
      • Has fps unlocked by default, straight from HTC's source!
    • Upped MMS size limit to 5mb (thanks to calkulin)
    • Added mod to prevent MMS from compressing image unless it's over 5mb limit (thanks to calkulin)
    • Added mod to unlock Sprint wired tether so that you can tether straight through the normal USB menu when you plug in your phone (thanks to calkulin. If it's not working for you then you are probably missing drivers on your computer. Check device manager. Works on 3g or wifi only)
    • Updated Wireless Tether to 2.0.5-pre-11
    • Updated DarkTremor apps2sd to 2.7.5.2
    • Updated Google Maps to 4.5.1
    • Updated Google Search to 1.1.2
    • Updated YouTube to 2.0.26
    • Updated busybox to 1.16.0
    • There were no radio updates or updates to any system apks or jars in this OTA.
    • 3.4.0.0-3.4.0.1: Fixed a browser bug. Find the small patch in Fresh Updater if you were on 3.4.0.0 already

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Not every mod in this rom is outlined here if it was done in a previous version. It contains all the Fresh goodies as outlined in the Fresh Evo changelog: http://geekfor.me/evo/21/fresh-evo-official-change-log
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    READ:

Install Notes: This update does not require a data wipe if you are on Fresh Evo 3.2 or higher. If you are coming from another rom then a wipe may be required. Always perform a nandroid backup before flashing. Updating to the new radio and PRI is highly recommended. I recommend doing it after you flash the rom. The download is below.

Donors: If you were already on 3.5.0.0 then yes you still need to update or you will not be able to get future updates from fresh updater properly.

    If you are experiencing issues:
    • If your gmail FC's on your first boot and you aren't getting push gmail then simply open Settings < Manage Applications < All < Gmail < Clear Data . After that everything should work for you.
    • If your market is FC'ing then you will need to perform a few adb commands after flashing the rom.
      1. adb remount
      2. adb shell
      3. rm -r /data/data/com.android.vending
      4. rm -r /data/dalvik-cache
      5. rm /data/system/packages.xml
      6. reboot recovery
      7. then you should be in recovery. and do (assuming RA) Other < Fix APK UID mismatches
    • If you have tried all of that and are still having issues then you need to go in to recovery and do a full data wipe and flash and all will be fine.

Fair warning: if you ask me something that is already answered in the forum, the change log, or these release notes, then I'm going to ignore it. Sorry.

    Need help?

Choose the specific version you want and hit next
Choose Do not include icons and hit next
Choose Do not change notification status bar and hit next
Choose Do not include bootanimation and hit next
Choose Do not include windows animation and hit next
Click Choose File and browse to where you placed the framework-res.apk from above and hit next.

The file will be built and you can then download it and flash.
    3
For anyone having problems installing the FM Radio, try flashing the attached.

Shouldn't be any problem if it gets copied over instead of installed. ;)
    3
For those with the market FC please test this and let me know if it resolves it.

    http://link.geekfor.me/fresh35vendingfix

If not I need someone to send me a debug log of you opening the market.

    Thanks!
