Awesome job Geeknik, quick question:

If we wanted to get back to stock, how would we go about that? Is there a kernel removal method? Flash stock kernel? If so, where can I find the stock kernel? Thanks and sorry for the trouble.

I'm having GPS issues on 1.76, even after 5 minutes of standing outside in a open area the GPS will never fully lock. My GPS locks within seconds when using 1.54 so it is def something going on with the 1.76 kernel. Let me know if I can help you debug this further.

I would also like to ask if disable_lagfix is enough to remove voodoo so I can really use this kernel. Or is there a better way to remove voodoo all the way. Thanks and I am using this 1.76 so sorry if this is in the wrong thread

It is for the newer voodoo5 kernels. Older voodoo kernels it is hit or miss.

Ya, I know there is one, but I was wondering if it is necessary to go through all that. I will look anyway

Ok, so we can just flash the kernel without wiping? Do we need DJ05?

After we flash, can we still do Nandroid and restore Nandroid?

How easy is it to remove the kernel and would it require wiping?

I've heard nothing but good things about these kernels...really eager to try one out and finally improve battery life.

I dont think you NEED dj05, but that is the biggest improvement for battery life I have found. The 1.54 and 1.76 kernels were made for dj05 and im sure work best with it. The first one is for di01 and should not be used if you have dj05. But stupid fast is stupid fast and thank you geeknik for your work. As far as wiping, I think it is a good idea to wipe everytime some times twice to get rid of the klinging on things.

If you use a dj05 kernel with a di01 rom, you'll lose haptic.

I'm using his most recent stable, runs great and battery life is much improved.

Yeah, just flash a stock kernel. I'm sure you can find someone in #samsung-fascinate on irc.freenode.net that has a link to either the DI01 or DJ05 stock kernels. =)

My testers and I couldn't replicate any GPS issues. Try upgrading to v1.95 which is on http://totalnerdity.com/sf/ and in ROM Manager. =)

What happened to 1.76 in rom mang?

Replaced it with v1.95. =)

I installed the 1.54 kernel. How do I make sure it installed ok? Also, if I
install the latest kernel, would I need to wipe data again?

Not sure what im doing wrong.. but I only get like 6-7 hours with the phone. I used GPS for 20 mins or less, and I hardly used the phone. I'm getting inconsistent battery with this phone. One day I get 11 hours and the next I get 8 with similar use. Also does NO LED use battery? Since When I'm at the gym I have 30% and when I get out it's dead. Maybe when NO LED runs the whole time it kills battery after being gone for 2 hours.

reboot to cwm recovery after battery is charged to 100% - go to advanced -> wipe battery stats. see if it is just reading it incorrectly.

this uv kernel gets me 36 hours of normal use (give or take)

Not a total noob, but new to Fascinate. whats the difference with DJ05 / DI01? Can someone shine the light on me?

I'm a total noob and new to Fascinate but I have been learning for about 10 days now. The DI01 is the software that comes on the new Fascinates you buy today and DJ05 is a leaked update not yet officially released by Verizon. Rumor is it's suppose to fix a few things before they release Froyo (Android 2.2) for this phone. Here is a link to the change log and the leaked files.

    http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=869990

Also careful to only flash kernels, roms, themes with the version that you have. Should be DI01 stock if you didn't odin the DJ05.

99.9% of his source was jt1134's anyway. The rest was heavily reliant on placebos.
