Mike,
Living in a an *nearly* parallel universe to you - rumor is that Santa is putting an N7 under the tree for me. Can't wait. I may keep mine stock for a short while prior to rooting - hard to say. As you know I am an avid MMuzzy ROM for GNex user.

It's been so long since I unlocked and rooted my GNex - I recall I did it manually. If go that way with the N7, are there specific unlock/root instructions that you'd suggest to follow? Are there any differences when rooting an N7?

WugFresh supports the Nexus 7 also. It made it silly easy. Make sure you have the Google USB drivers installed, especially if you have Win8 like me. Enjoy your new toy!

The title gave me the missing piece I was missing also. Given his location our designators for Toro and Toroplus are confusing.

I see

I'm just putting the stock kernel through it's paces on the 7. On the GNex I use Tiny's kernel though when I remember to flash it.

hey mmuzzy! do you think that compile your rom using linaro toolchain may improve a little more your rom?

Honestly I don't plan on it. I'm not saying that Linaro builds aren't stable but I think a lot of the perceived gains are placebo and I don't know if the pros outweigh the cons when stability is important to what I want to do with the ROMs. That's where I am right now anyway.

Thanks for this lean and minimal ROM. I was running CleanROM before this but the lack of a reboot menu was quite inconvenient.

One question: in the Quick Settings Mod thread, Kevdliu said it's possible to reorder the quick settings tiles depending on the order of your selections. This doesn't seem to be working. Is this a problem with the mod, the device, or the ROM?

Thank you. I have 3 different versions of his mod apk on my build machine and I noticed that as well. I'll be checking that as soon as I can but we should be able to get that fixed. It might just be the APK I used but I haven't had a second to try to grab the one from his last flash file to test that one out in place of the one from the ROM.

EDIT: Ah, nevermind. I don't think I added the patch because it added things like torch and wifi tethering which caused SystemUI errors and soft reboots.

I see. Thanks for looking into it. It's not a major problem in any case. The default layout is usable without issue.

AOSP JellyBean 4.2.2 Official Source hot off the AOSP servers. This ROM is AOSP. The only files that were changed or added were to make things nicely functional. Thanks to everyone for the kind words, technical help, suggestions, and for using the ROM!

This ROM is closely related to builds I make for Toro, Toroplus, Manta and Mako.

    ----------------
    Features include:
    - Deodexed
    - Root with Superuser
    - Expanded Desktop
    - Quick Settings Mod (Kevdliu)
    - Enhanced Power Menu (Craig Gomez)
    - Power Menu Screenshot (CM)
    - Play app auto restore
    - Lean and fast build from AOSP

    ----------------
    Downloads:

    ROM - Download - 7/12/13
    GAPPs - Download

    Goo.im

    ----------------
    Directions (Clean Flash)
    1. Wipe factory data/reset
    2. Wipe cache
    3. Go into mounts and storage
    4. Format /system
    5. Format /data
    6. Format /cache
    7. Wipe dalvik
    8. Flash ROM
    9. Flash GAPPs

    Directions (Dirty Flash)
    1. Wipe cache
    2. Wipe dalvik
    3. Flash ROM
    4. Flash GAPPs

    Tips:
    - Clean flash strongly recommended with Android 4.2!
    - Turn off Currents background sync! Major lag cause in 4.2.
    - To be safe, I recommend clean flashing with the Superwipe script. Especially if coming from another ROM.
    - If you get a status 7 error flashing a ROM, try making sure SYSTEM is unmounted in 'mount/unmount partitions' menu in recovery.
..Thanks to jroid for finding the tip.

    Vanilla ROM - Deodexed

This isn't really a big deal since there are plenty of 4.3 ROMs but I use the N7 to test builds. This is the unmodded deodexed 4.3 ROM for the N7 for anyone that wants it. You will want to flash the SuperSU zip and I would strongly recommend not using the 4.2.x GAPPs.

    SuperSU: http://download.chainfire.eu/342/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.43.zip
