Sorry guys. All the ICS Roms out there are moving forward, with updates and fixed. And Team ICS are where they were? Now what to expect with the next release then? A full working rom with a NO bug for example? Days are passing, I wouldn't recommend to an ICS newbie to try RC4.2 after the huge update on the forum of the other roms.

Anyway, Good Luck...Catch the train...

While it is true that 4.2 has been out for a while, what is missing from it that an AOSP rom would provide to you? I've had 4.2 since about day 0.5, and while the temptation for jumping to another rom does exist (if it didn't then I probably wouldn't be the type to flash a custom rom in the first place) .... jumping to another rom just because they update more isn't enough reason for me. 4.2 is stable and smooth for me (with the devil2.064 kernel), and I have not run into a single issue with my current setup.

If you want to jump to another rom - go for it, but state the correct reason. Other rom's have more to update due to more custom features - so it makes sense that they have more updates.

It's like comparing apples and oranges. They're both ICS (fruit), but there are fundamental differences that seperate them.

I don't think it's about the customizations people are complaining about. You have forgotten the fact all the other ROMs have integrated the 4.0.4 changes a while back (especially the Android OS bug) except the ICSSGS.

If this is still an AOSP with no additional customizations, I don't see a reason for the long delay to release a 4.0.4 ROM unless Onecosmic is busy with his life (we should accept that and we can't force anyone to do it for us).

No, it means: If you want to be able to record 720p use Semaphore 1.0.0(s) (if you want 720p
playback you need the appropriate patch if your ROM does not support it )

If you want more mem and do not want to record 720p you can you Semaphore 1.0.0(s)bm. Here it is the same for 720p playback: You need a patch ROM to support 720p playback using the s-version of the kernel.

Code:
Kernel | 1.0.0 | 1.0.0s | 1.0.0bm | 1.0.0sbm
-----------+--------+-----------+----------+--------------
mem | ~327 | 387 | ~340 | 399
720p play | yes | patched | yes | patched
720p rec | yes | patched | no | no

Does "patched" mean yes or no?

I'm assuming it means "yes, with patch applied".

The following is therefore easier to understand:

Code:
Kernel | 1.0.0 | 1.0.0s | 1.0.0bm | 1.0.0sbm
-----------+--------+-----------+----------+--------------
mem | ~327 | 387 | ~340 | 399
720p play | yes | yes | yes | yes
720p rec | yes | yes | no | no

720p rec | yes | yes | no | no

You're confusing people now.

Patched means that you need to patch the version to get the feature, simple and easy to understand.

Therefore this is the correct way to read it.
Code:
Kernel | 1.0.0 | 1.0.0s | 1.0.0bm | 1.0.0sbm
-----------+--------+-----------+----------+--------------
mem | ~327 | 387 | ~340 | 399
720p play | yes | patched | yes | patched
720p rec | yes | patched | no | no
You'll end of confusing more people than you help if not written this way.

To be honest I don't feel like complaining on this rom even though it has been lack of updates for a while, however I can't find any major bugs. I think its actually the most stable ICS rom for the SGS. Could be wrong but thats my thought.

Btw we all know team ICSSGS is working actively on the next release, and I am sure if they yet didn't roll out an update is because there are still some bugs that needs to be addressed as they want their rome to yet be the most stable one on the forum.

And btw I really wouldn't mind considering it to a newbie, since I am a newbie and oh my god I love this rom.

Agreed. That and the repeated media bug have been fixed on almost every other ICS ROM.

Please, stop this discussion. It's easy, you like other roms, use other roms. You don't have any problem with ICSGS, enjoy like many of us do. You have any issue regarding this ROM, post it here. If other roms are better, why do you bother asking here to rush things up?

You got it wrong mate. Im not here to market for another ROMS. And exactly? I could jump to any other rom myself, Infact I loved the RC4.2 but the fact that other Roms are up there with the merged 4.0.4 now, and who knows if 0.5 next? with much more bug fixing and so, makes the RC4.2 look old. Its just a message for the devs to catch the Train :) I'd be gladly the first to use the RC 5 when released....

Please STOP all this arguing. There is non sense to continue.

If I was Paul, I would ask to close this thread.

It has no reason to stay open as all has been said on RC4.2 and that RC4.2 will not be updated.
Dev are working on RC5 with the time they would consider enough for their own private life. They all know in ICSSGS team that we are lots awaiting for RC5.

Keeping this thread alive just make foolish guys upseting this great team.
For me RC4.2 run just fine as it is. Just waiting like everybody RC5.

Keep doing your mind onecosmic, Paul and all others in Team.

What kind of media bug is fixed with 4.0.4? The "duplicate files in the media db if media files are on the external SD card" bug?

not saying it's fixed on 4.0.4, i said the other roms already fixed the duplicate files bug. And that bug really bugs me, i listen to music quite a lot on my SGS and last time i had ICSSGS ROM i had like 30 duplicates of every song on my phone, with half of them giving "this media type can't be played" errors...

I dont have the duplicate files bug for almost two months. i don't know what i did but its now gone. The only thing that bothers me now is when i turn off or reboot, my phone automatically mutes the volume by itself. I dont have that before when i first flash this rom.

Just to cover the amount of PM's I've been getting. No matter what happens, development has by no means stopped. Yeah, it's taking us a bit to get things done due to a few circumstances right now, but we are still very active.

So you can believe what you want or go on to other things, and this thread will remain locked until the next release is out.

/over and out.

NOTICE: We apologize for the lack of updates recently, we just want to make it clear that development has under NO circumstances stopped. We are absolutely still working on this and still supporting it. Thank you for your patience.

    Team ICSSGS

    -- DemonWav -- Nushor -- Onecosmic -- PaulForde -- RaymondDull -- Trae32566 --

This ROM is based directly on the source code straight from Google themselves, the way Android is meant to be. This ROM is produced by a collaboration of many different people, with the main development being done by Onecosmic himself. We strive to bring releases as often as possible and provide a stable AOSP ROM. As this is a work in progress, bugs are to be expected! Please check the known issue's before posting/reporting bugs.

Source code can be found here

If you can, please donate a small amount via paypal, we do this for fun and this is optional but it is greatly appreciated and it is a way for you to contribute. If you want us to support another Galaxy S type phone and you have an extra of it, we may consider supporting the phone if you donated it to us to work on. If you think you have a phone that we could support, PM me or any other Team ICSSGS members and we will discuss the possibility of us supporting it.

We do not support anything that is not produced by us!

Ok, work sucks, life not but takes time and so on...

Here i am after getting a couple of minutes to post :)

Lets start with a couple of things:

Battery issues: If you don't complete 2 full charge cycles (discharge to 0 and charge to 100% 2 times) please do not complain about battery life, all android versions needs this in order to calibrate battery comsumption, this is mandatory.

Brightness: I know is darker and have steps not working, i'll fix that, not sure if with an update or in the full release (again, lack of time)

Wifi tether: does not work yet, its a mater of time.

USB tether, worked for me all day today, no mayor issues. anyhow i'll try to check with other users to see what happens.

Voodoo color kernel: it was compiled due to request from several users, i dont like it and i dont have time to check why the gamma tables get screwed, you can adjust them using voodoo control apk. :)

T9 on dialer: wip, again, not sure if update or next release.

Dictionary, there is a update that someone put on the thread, please take a look, it works without issues.

TV Out: i'll get a cable today to test, i dont have one until now so i was not able to test it :)

Media Scanning: i'll check on that (slowness, memory consumption and duplicate names).

Besides of the things above, i have a i9000b phone (almost the same as i9000, minor differences) its complicate to diagnose problems in vibrant or captivate without having the device, so far i know that gps does not work on cappy i'll try to o my best, but again, without having the devices is difficult to test everything.

    Cheers!
