I've done this Instructions but i'm stuck on rebooting. I've made step by step, except i'm using Safestrap 3.05. That could be the problem?

Some others JB Roms work in my device (XT 860). This one has support to this device?

I haven't tried this ROM yet, but I downloaded it, expanded it, and noticed that it's missing the /etc/rootfs folder that I believe is required to boot in Safestrap 3.05. If somebody adds that to the zip by copying that over from a Safestrap-compatible ROM it may boot.

Booted fine for me. No data but neither does cm10.1 atm

I had the same boot loop problem when I first tried to flash this ROM. I even let it set for about 20 mins before doing a batt pull just to be sure. I just went back into recovery did a factory wipe and reinstalled the ROM then the gapps and rebooted with no problems. Great work so far guys! Can't wait to see 3g and working camera soon.

The Avatar Team is proud to present the first beta release of weebo app. It is a Tasker like application which can automate tasks for your phone.

The application comes with pre-defined set of 20 common rules but you can add your own rules in sdcard (/mnt/sdcard/weebo) and it will be automatically picked up by the application. To activate a rule, click on the corresponding rule (rule will get highlighted)

The rules are simple XML files and you can find more info here.

You must be new around here. Droid 3 is unlikely to have a working camera on anything above gingerbread, ever.

This is right from the second post of cm10.1 thread

CAMERA NOTES:
** I would never expect the camera to be fully functioning. I am working several avenues to get a functional camera on the Droid 3, but they're all sketchy at best. Just know that if you choose to flash custom ROMs w/ newer OS versions: You won't have a camera.
** Did I say don't expect the camera to be fixed? If it was to be fixed, trust me, you'll see me all over the boards, twitter and the social universe telling people about it.
** There are other devs now working on the kexec kernel and it's possible that they can get some basic camera functionality through kernel drivers. It's quite complicated and there are no public data sheets which describe the sensor functions in great detail for our devices.
** Don't expect the camera to be fixed

@bippi79 is there a trick to using the theme editor or a certain version of java I should be using to run it? It seems to just hang for me when I create a new project or try to open an existing theme. I'm gonna try it on another computer later, but just thought I'd ask first :)

No specific version of java is required. We tried on ubuntu and it was working fine.

We are releasing a much better QT version of theme editor this week. PM me if you are interested to try out before the release.

Avatar Theme Creator Tool

Avatar Team is proud to present the first beta release of Theme creator tool. It is a QT based desktop application to edit themes.

Themes created using this tool are compatible with Avatar ROM and Cyanogen ROM. Similarly you can edit both Avatar Themes and Cyanogen themes.

Download the theme apk and open it using the theme creator tool. You will see a screen to edit the resources. After editing the resources, save the apk and install on the device.

What you can do with this tool ?

1. There are 1000's of resources that can be themed in Android. We change only a small set of them and if you want to theme more resources you can use this tool.

2. We make some mistakes when creating a theme. Eg: SMS time stamp color was not proper in some of our themes. You can now use this tool to fix it.

3. We cannot satify all the users with a theme. Eg: If you want to have a darker orange shade in denim theme you can now do it using this tool.

4. You can import an existing theme, change some of the resources we modified and you have a brand new theme.

Upcoming features:

1. Ability to create a new theme from scratch.

2. Import MiUi mtz theme file and convert it to theme apk which is compatible with AvatarROM and CyanogenROM.

3. Upload your new themes to our server so it can be used by other AvatarROM users.

4. Html5 based new theme creator tool which is more elegant and user friendly.

Avatar Team is proud to present the first beta release of Layout Themeing.

We all have seen how themes change images, icons, drawables, colors etc. But this is the first time you will see how a theme can change the position of UI elements (buttons, labels, etc). Never before an attempt like this was made in the history of Android.

Eg: "Close all apps" button in the recent apps list is on the top-right corner. If you are a left handed user, reaching the top-right corner on a 5 inch phone is not easy. With layout theming, you can move the position from top-right to left-bottom.

Demo:

Lets take up a simple example. We have seen different version of dialer in different operating system. By applying a theme, we can now have the exact same dialer in Android. Not only the buttons look the same, it is also positioned at the exact location.

Install Instructions:

1. Push the systemUI.apk to /system/app (Eg: "adb push systemUI.apk /system/app")
2. Install the themes as any normal android application (Eg: "adb install -r iphone.apk")
3. Go to theme chooser and apply your preferred theme
4. Open the dialer and check out how look and feel changes which each theme.

Some Surprises

1. Check out the clock position on the status bar. Yes it is centered. We can move anything to anywhere.
2. In the recent apps theme, we have moved "Close all apps " in the recent apps list from top-right to bottom-left

Layout themeing will be part of AvatarROM soon and we are working on some cool concepts. We would love to hear what you want to see in layout theming. Post your ideas in our feature request page.

if you are updating from an older version of Avatar to 2.8b without a wipe. You will have to clear data of Bazooka Launcher
Under settings, Apps -> all apps -> bazooka -> clear data...

If you are moving from an old Avatar build to 2.8b without a wipe
Try clearing data of Bazooka
Drag down Status bar -> Toggles page -> Settings -> Apps -> All -> Bazooka -> Clear data

    Explanations and facts. Our status as of now.

    Lately there has been a lot of confusion as to our approach to AvatarROM and the support scenario for all the various devices. We have had a lot of negative, and must I say, important feedback, and we have also seen a slight wane in our download numbers.

    First off the bat, let us lay it out there in front of you that AvatarROM is still up and running and very much alive. There have been a few problems lately, but more about that later. We would like to ensure to our users that our development pattern is still chugging like a well oiled machinery and soon things will be right back on track.

    We received a lot of flak for the last 4.3 build that we came out with, which actually had a major flaw in the lockscreen, putting devices into continuous bootloops. Our immediate solution was to advice users not to upgrade at all, and to those who had, to downgrade to the previous build. Although we ended up promising users that we will soon release a new build, unfortunately it never ended up happening. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we have not been able to push out a new build to our users, nor have we released any update for all those devices still on 4.2.2. The good news though, is that we will soon have a new build up and running. We are working on it and it should see the light of day soon.

    The second problem, and in a way, a more grievous one was that a lot of older builds and in some cases, all the builds for specific device models got erased from our servers, as a result of which new users were never able to download our ROM. This lead to a lot of confusion, and in some cases, agitation that we might be wrapping up, which as we cleared up, is not the problem. We were trying to tweak the back- end servers and in the process, lost a lot of those older images. By the time we could salvage them, it was too late. Currently we are in the process of tweaking the servers (really carefully) and make sure that most of those missing builds are available.

    So yes, in a nutshell, we really dropped the ball this time. We will like to thank all our users who stood valiantly alongside us, even though aware of the issues. We are looking into solving all these problems and should be able to alleviate them altogether in the coming days. So please be patient, just for a few more days.

    • CyanogenMod merges till May 2nd 2013.
    • SystemUI fixes during expanded desktop (the background was not covering till the end. Also portrait - landscape transition, the notifications wouldn't expand fully)
    • ThemeChooser : Fixes for text invisible in installed themes tab for dark themes
    • ThemeChooser will not handle market links anymore and Memory leak fix.
    • Old themechooser is removed completely.
    • Launcher : Fix crash without wipe & make dockbar transperant.
    • In OTA updater show that the gapps and rom is installed if they are installed. ( Previously it used to show new or downloaded).
    • Change Cyanogen Mod Updates to Avatar Updates
    • We have a global error reporter collecting the crashes reported by the user using ACRA. Error Reporter link

( I DO NOT SAY IT SUCKS OR SOMETHING IT IS EPIC ) but i can't get more than an hour of usage with minimum tasks , on ics by hashcode it is ok for a full day with just one refill but this rom does drains fast like a mother****er<br />

    That's a hack that made that work. Record a video. Scan a qr code. It's not a fully functional camera. I'm pretty sure that ics still uses a GB kernel, which is why it gets some functionality. Newer roms use the appropriate kernel, for which there is no camera support. That ics is the exception, so don't hold your breath waiting to see camera functionality on more roms.
