I debated for a couple of days whether to update or not because of the plethora of complaints. I finally updated via Kies and have had no big issues thus far.

The little issues:
1) My battery life seems slightly worse. I did notice after waking up this morning that the phone was constantly awake during that period and this is something that it hadn't done previously.

2) The big one: Dead Trigger apparently not optimized yet for JB :(

I just received a notification from my kies regarding 4.1.1

I have rooted my phone with this method http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1739426

this update will remove the root access right?

I have installed vodoo rootkeeper .. but something tells me it wont be able to protect my root .. just a gut feeling. Can anyone tell me what will happen or did anyone try it till now?

I just finished my first battery cycle with JB and I seem to have lost about 45 minutes of screen time. Typically on the weekends I get between 4-4 1/2 hours of screen time within a 24 hour period. I did notice that the phone would not go into deep sleep the 8 hours that I slept.

I have Juice Defender Ultimate and I am noticing some interesting comments in its activity log. Every 12 minutes or so I am getting a "Warning throttling data toggle." What exactly does this mean?

Also, in the same activity log, I got this message: "ROM is not compatible with AOSP (band switch control is unavailable) - get CyanogenMod ;) "
I am not even making this up and am wondering what exactly that meant since I am completely stock with no kernels and nothing flashed?

I've had battery drain from using the stock music player. But only at first, to stop drain from the player and media server I simply scrolled down through all my artists and albums and let the thumbnails load

Screen on time will be less because of hardware acceleration. It happens on aosp too. I typically "disable hw overlays" and my battery life goes back to normal. BUT on touchwiz it causes videos to freeze in landscape unless the music controls are showing. It's kind of weird.

Has anyone Noticed that wifi never shuts off when it is enabled?? One would think the wifi wouldn't constantly be scanning for networks I am sure that has to be a battery hog. Anyone else notice this issue?

quick recap as ive been out the loop. jb is available only through kies so far. we are still waiting for at't OTA. CORRECT? id rather wait for OTA.

No OTA planned, it's huge, and would eat up almost half someone's data plan if they are on the 2G one...

Not saying it won't change in the future, but for now Kies is the only "Official" method available if you do not want to go the ODIN route.

Speaking of keyboards... Does anyone else notice that after you reboot your phone your third party keyboard is no longer the default keyboard? Every time i reboot my phone the stock keyboard comes back and there is no way to completely disable it. Any ideas on how to get the third party keyboard to stick after a reboot?

That's not happening for me. I'd say you probably have something goofed up.

I meant to convey that there are still enough problems, issues (or whatever term you might want to use) to keep this thread intact.

My JB update went flawlessly as well, but just when it appeared that my battery drain "issue" had resolved itself, it appears that I may have a problem. I plan to post some definitive data later today.

Check out this thread: http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2037705

It seems to stem from Google Now/location services. Some lone OS services are causing it to lag a bit, but now I'm here:

That will always be a scenario i believe with any OS update especially android because of all the layering involved from vanilla to final product

4.1.1 is out and, contrary to what Samsung said, the update is available on Kies and OTA! Yes, OTA is here!

Congrats to Corey_r and longcat14 for winning the pool. No one else even had a chance, haha. :)

Official release date from AT&T: "...very near future."
(last checked on 11/30; source; thanks, Randun)

Anonymous Source: Samsung's AT&T GS3 Jelly Bean User Trials started in May and have been completed; we're just waiting on AT&T. The ROM should be in its final stages of testing soon.

Jelly Bean Version: Most likely 4.1 Before 11/28, chatter from multiple official AT&T sources stated 4.2 (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6) However, then AT&T quietly released the above Support Article, which stated 4.1.The Support Article is the most concrete evidence we have, so it will probably be Jelly Bean 4.1. :)

    Confirmed Jelly Bean TouchWiz features:

    Camera
    • New camera/camcorder filters: warm vintage, cold vintage, black and white, sepia, color highlights(blue, green, red/yellow), and many more.
    • Pause and resume recording
    • Low light mode (uses HDR)
    Phone-wide
    • Pop Up Play can be resized and paused
    • Introduction of Easy Mode: large Easy widgets (for first-time smartphone users)
    • Introduction of Blocking Mode: disable incoming calls, notifications, alarms, and LED indicators for a designated period of time
    • Introduction of Swype® Keyboard (bundled)
    • AllShare® Cast Wireless Hub support
    • NFC One Touch Pairing Support: pair a supported Bluetooth device via NFC

Complete noob.. I finally got kies to connect to my phone, but now it keeps asking me upgrade Kies to the latest version and then upgrade firmware. Once I click the Update Kies button right next to it, it immediately says the latest version is installed. After I do this, it doesnt seem anything has changed and it tells me the current firmware version is android 4.0.4. Anyone else having this issue? Is there a different way for me to update since ive never rooted or messed with stock settings? thanks

So i was able to update my rooted stock ICS phone to the JB but i lost root. Im tempted to try rooting again via odin but worried of messing up my phone.

Could flash stock rooted image here http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1739426

This seems to be a thread for ranting and wild speculation than what the OP has intended. Maybe we should get back on topic before a mod is needed...

Idk why you guys are hassling ATT about the release date. The only people who would know best would be the programmers at Samsung...Just my two cents

Yeah, but unfortunately, we're under a contract to pay AT&T for service. They aren't under a contract to provide updates to our phones unless they are essential to maintaining daily function of the device. This is why carriers shouldn't be determining if/when android updates are released. There is no value added to any tweaks that AT&T makes on the devices.
