sorry for being such a noob..but i have some questions..

1. will this work on ANY i9000 rom like any of the asian versions? if so will i run to any problems?

2. will this kernel work on the cog 2.2 b7 rom with no problems?

3. if so on number 1. do i need like a modem.bin file or everything will be perfect cause i really want the STOCK rom..as in stock. no carrier apps stuff..cause i noticed on the i9000 roms..the sound is really loud..i like it

thank you very much for you replies and inputs..

update my issue is not relating to 850 mhz band
it is relating to tower switching.
I just to test flashed to the JP6 modem to see if that fixes the tower issue
The issue only happens when changing towers and using data
What is a non hsupa modem with 850mhz 3g what i could try?

Use the JI6 modem.

No HSUPA; attached zip to previous post. It's from the leaked Captivate Froyo.

thanks just flashed now
That modem does the same thing as bell JG8 but all the time
So far the JP6/JPM modem is working.
I ahve also noticed that the battery life is better using the JP6/JPM modem.
so far have had no problems with it
Usb storage mode is usable once more

I think we need a guide for going from stock cappie to jpm for noobs.
Have tried other modems jg2 ji6 jg8 the most stable modem is JP6/JPM

I guess it will work, I have the latest Arabic I9000JPJPA rom installed (which also supports Korean) and is running perfectly. You need to install 502.pit and choose repartition when installing. After installation replace with this kernel.

I had good luck with the JH2 modem - not one FC or crash on that modem.

boomerod,

Have you tested the JH2 modem on Google Maps during the driving? I have observed the same phenomenom as what tjsooley described. The UGJG8 modem on the Shep211's or Tayutama's Froyo ROM will suddenly turn the cell phone into darkness and lock up from a perfectly running Google Maps Navigation during the driving in a distance of 5 miles. I flashed the XXJPM's modem tonight, and tested again and the Google Maps works well for distance of ~14 miles. I think I agree with tjsooley that the problem is due to the cell Tower switching on the JG8 modem which only works on Android 2.1. JH2 is also for Android 2.1, so I am curious of what you have tested.

What's the difference between the xwjp6 and xxjpm european roms? do calls work work with those roms here in the usa..like the modem..or do i need the ji6 modem? i just want a completely stock froyo using this kernel so i dont have all those problems like the auto rotate, sound, recovery, home/back button, etc.. i can use the asian versions too right? like the dx ones..philippines..wondering when theyll come out with an update froyo..

Update on drive to work with maps running no lockups or black screens.
The jp6/jpm modem worked for me. I do think that this is kernal and modem related. P.s. Dont try the leaked cappie ji6 modem things go funky
My battery life is now Fantastic.
My display is at 45% power usage.
The modem is also correctly sleeping.
No HSUPA But I am good with that.
HSDPA works fine 3.59 MBPS
Upload about 250-400 Kbps max
I can upload the modem I am using later Just let me know.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App

Please upload it. This is how Im planning to install this
1. Odin 1click back to JF6
2. Flash to JPM Froyo
3. Flash this Kernel with Modem

Does anyone see any problem with this route?

That be great... Only problem I'm having is battery drain even after the battery reset, still drains pretty fast. I'm using Themed Rom as well as trying out the Tat's SuperLite rom.

No probs with that. That's what I did when I flashed Tat's SuperLite rom except for the flashing the modem. I did flash the newest reoriented kernel though. The modem in SuperLite is I9000UGJG8. Everything works great except for battery drain. :(
