Stuck in a hole can't see the light

I'm having an issue, I unlocked the bootloader and installed the recovery just fine, or so it appears. I am still not rooted :/ all I want to do is mess with some system files. Any ideas as to why I don't have root access after bootloader is unlocked? Thanks, Derek.

Under extras in the toolkit there is a root process. It works great just install the zip in recovery

Thats my second problem. How do i boot into recover? because I pick the option from the commands list and it goes to an htc screen with red writing on it and hangs. i restarted my phone after like 1.5 minutes. Does it take longer than that to boot into recovery? Thank, Derek.

I would boot to bootloader then go to recovery that way. Make sure the SUzip is actually being copied to your sd card of course. Hope this helps some I just did all this myself on my first HTC device

Flash a recovery. You skipped that step.

I clicked the flash recovery option and i thought it did it, should I try again?

EDIT
So i tried a different recovery, this one says it flashed. and after i try to boot to it, it comes up with the red letters stating that this build is not for distribution whatever stuff, and then it shuts off the screen then boots normally. I installed recovery-CWM-5.8.3.1-Build6.img and the one that comes with the tool with no luck, a little help would be amazing. nice tool overall though.

Two questions:

Does the app work offline? I ask because on my windows desktop there was a bug where plugging in my Android phone (Optimus V) would interfere with my USB WiFi and knock out my connection. Don't want to start this and be unable to follow through to the end. (It's possible the issue was LG-OV only, but better safe than sorry, right?)

Will the app work with the Virgin Mobile version of the One V so long as I place the property boot images, firmware, etc in the proper directories? Or should I just do the process manually?

Thanks for your time and for building the application and sharing it with us.

You will need internet access to unlock the bootloader. You have to log on to the HTC Dev website to get the unlock code. For what it's worth, I unlocked, rooted and installed a rom in less than an hour doing it all manually. It's not that hard, just read the tutorial and follow the steps. Just make sure all your files are for the PrimoC.

The login for the unlock code has to be "live" for it to work, not something I can do and write down?

If you do it manually I think you might be able to. It's been a while since I did mine, but if I remember correctly you should be able to run the fastboot commands then connect to the internet to submit the identifier token and get your unlock code. Then reconnect via fastboot to unlock. Read over this guide

http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1598964

for doing it manually.

I would like to add for those that like my toolkit, PLEASE DO NOT POST IT ELSEWHERE WITHOUT MY PERMISSION!

I have seen multiple sites who copy and paste my work to their site! If I do not approve of it, then do not do it! it will discourage me from adding updates since it is being used for their own benefits!

    tl;dr.

If you post my work without permission, don't expect updates!

I created an easy to use GUI program for the HTC Amaze and I decided to make one for the HTC One V. I spent a good over 10+ hours to learn how to script, watch videos on how to do it, working on it during school when I should have been listening lol and all that fun stuff. I am going to fix it and up and add more updates to it. You CAN place requests and I will try to fulfill it!

If this helped you out, Please press the thanks button and if you want, you can always donate!

    Bugs
    - Directory has to have one word.
    Ex:

Will Work. This will solve any issues if the buttons don't work when you press them.

    C:\Users\John\Dropbox\Phones\Amaze_All-In-One_Kit_V2.4

    C:\Users\John_Smith\Dropbox\Phones\Amaze_All-In-One_Kit_V2.4

Will NOT work. Your directory will look something like this and buttons won't work when you press it.

    C:\Users\John Smith\Dropbox\Phones\Amaze_All-In-One_Kit_V2.4

If you have 2 words, put the folder in Drive C:

Ex. This will solve any issues if the buttons don't work when you press them.

    C:\Amaze_All-In-One_Kit_V2.4

Looking to add in the future

A - To make life easier

Q - You are limited on features. Why?
A- You can always make a request!

Q - Will this work on other devices?

Q - Will you support more devices in the future?
A - If people REALLY want, I can make it happen. I just don't want to make anything that nobody would use.

    Q - Awesome! Can I make a donation?
A - Of course! Do not feel obligated though. If you would like to make a donation, you can click the button on my toolkit or under my username.
