sucks

Mine doesn't pick up bars until I go into the mobile data settings, select "available GSM networks" at the bottom, then search for my network and select it. It should pick up bars after you do that.
we need like a gsm patch or something to fix the whole manual thing about going to network settings and select the network manually.

I'm in Europe (have been for several months) and nothing is working for me... I had called sprint before hand and they pushed a bunch of crap to my phone and failed to unlock it. I do the trick mentioned here and it still says sim lock enabled and pretends there is no sim inserted.

I hope they will cancel my contract for me when I get back. I am really annoyed that I bought this phone to bring here and can't friggen use it.

EDIT: I got it working by first putting it into AIRPLANE MODE.. then after I do the process and reboot, i was able to take it off airplane mode and switch the sprint sim for my movistar SIM

Thanks everyone who helped. Sprint was useless.

I've read that some have had issues with the tray not aligning the card correctly after it shut. Could that be your issue?

use the stock rom for the unlock. wont work on aosp.

Hello Mate.. thats for the awesome work on this..

I just got a sprint one and tried this method to unlock but this same error 3 popped up. I am on stock rom itself and just unlocked bootloader and rooted the phone.
Can u tell me what could be wrong in my case ?

Also is there a way to directly go to that menu thru root explorer ? If yes, whats the path.. I will bypass the TE commands.

Sim unlock not working

Hi, I'm also having the error 3 issue.
My phone: sprint HTC One

adb, fastboot, htc drivers (except htc sync) installed

i've tried running the commands from the phone using terminal emulator and from my computer through adb
when i type "am start com.redbend.vdmc/com.htc.omadm.test.TestMainActivity" (after giving SU access), i get the following error:
Code:
root@android:/ # am start com.redbend.vdmc/com.htc.omadm.test.TestMainActivity
tc.omadm.test.TestMainActivity <
Starting: Intent { act=android.intent.action.MAIN cat=[android.intent.category.LAUNCHER] cmp=com.redbend.vdmc/com.htc.omadm.test.TestMainActivity }
Error type 3
Error: Activity class {com.redbend.vdmc/com.htc.omadm.test.TestMainActivity} does not exist.

any help would be appreciated as i have tried everything i can think of

I think you have to flash a stock sprint ROM ...
Trickdroid used a gsm based ROM ported over to sprint. It may not contain the right stuff to make this work.

There are some users reporting this failing with the same error despite runinng a stock ROM.
Also, would it have to be a RUU recovery to regain full stock or could I just flash the stock ROM?
Other thoughts: is it possible to reach that OMADM menu by putting a code into the dialer? I've looked around online and no codes I've found get you there so I wouldn't know how to find the OMADM one, if there is one.
Last question, if i revert back to stock and do the sim unlock, will it stay unlocked if I flash a custom rom, like S-off and root stays.

Thanks,

So what's the consensus on this working with US carriers? From what I'm seeing international, overseas users of this method are using it perfectly while users in the US can't get their ATT/TMobile sims to work...

Anyone in the US got this working?

I've heard that it will work with AT&T and T-Mobile

I have T-mobile. I was able to do sim unlock but I have to register T-mobile network manually every time I lost connection to the cell tower (which happens alot in my house) Kind of suck. I would like to install T-mobile Rom on Sprint HTC one but there is a no go for now :(

so the on in Q&A is getting full of nothing so time to start one with the guide

I don't take any credit just posting,,,All credit goes to hotaru2k3 (http://xdaforums.com/member.php?u=4572661) and Rimidal (http://xdaforums.com/member.php?u=1468774) for writing step by step and video

first off you need to be on stock sprint rom or base for this to work. also it will work on bad esn phones

    1. You should be rooted
    2. Download https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jackpal.androidterm
    3. Run Terminal Emulator
    4. Type "su" (excluding quotation marks) and grant it superuser permission
    5. Type "am start com.redbend.vdmc/com.htc.omadm.test.TestMainActivity" (excluding quotation marks)
    6. You will get menu on your HTC
    7. In that menu, select "API", then scroll down 'till almost end and select "simlock"
    8. Reboot the phone and hopefully it would accept GSM SIM
    9. Enter *#*#4636#*#* in your dialer
10.In the phone information section(the first one) set preferred network type to something that is GSM specific: "WCDMA Preferred", for example. The phone will switch to GSM mode

here's is the google play link https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.viper.simunlockhelperfree

here's a link to his thread, if you have any questions it's best to post there about the app

here's a link for ppl that want to flash there phone, here's a guide on how to flash sprint htc one http://www.cricketusers.com/cdma-htc-one/85426-how-flash-sprint-htc-one.html how to get spc code and how to connect to qpst

Hey guys, I wrote an app that will help you guys with this process. It's very simple, it has the instructions in the app and keeps you from having to use terminal emulator. It will check for root access and make sure you have the right device as well :) let me know how it works for you! OP, feel free to add this to the first post.

    http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?p=45243199

The link above is where you should post for issues/suggestions for the app ONLY, not to talk about SIM unlocking in general, as there are already two threads for that.

Yea, I tried all of the GSM and WCDMA ones, I tried changing the APNs, tried flashing a bunch of different roms, I actually ended up screwing my phone up (I couldnt get any bars with sprint, 4g worked, not even an RUU fixed it, but I found a way to fix it)

What i did to get the at&t sim to work on my HTC is go to settings take out your sim, turn off mobile data, then put your sim in. After that quickly open up The mobile network settings go down to available gsm networks and do that search networks option and choose at&t. you have to do it before your phone can fully read the at&t sim card because once it reads it, it wont let you select, search networks. I had that same problem where T-mobile would work but at&t wouldn't so i got desperate and tried that and it works fine. I get 4g lte speeds and all of that. Though whenever I am in a building and lose my service I usually have to do that process all over again.

I downgraded to 1.00.20.0626 on viper rom and still have the no service issue emergency calls only. Please help I am using a brand new sim from MetroPCS/T-mobile

It has to be on the one that ends in .315 or something like that, the first one

Can anyone confirmthat his unlocked HTC One works with AT&T when not using the latest radio?

If I put a tmobile SIM card, I'm not able to search for a network, it's grayed out
