Yeah, but you can delete these under settings --> apps without root. That's why I didn't include these apps

I know this is a Thread to remove rubbish from your phone but would be possible to someone upload the Sony contact app from GB?

I used to love that app, it was very helpful and Sony ICS contact app is useless...

I've used this tutorial, Titanium backup and a few ports of the stock ICS apps, mainly Keyboard Messaging and the ICS Analogue Clock and Launcher from the Play Store, and I'm now virtually running Stock ICS 4.0.3 & have still got 103MB of fre space.

The three that I've highlighted are safe to remove Video Unlimited is a Sony app that has an Uninstall option in Settings > Apps. I've removed Lets Golf HD and Timescape from my phone and everything is working fine, just remember to uninstall all the Timescape Plugins as well. I think Places, Latitude & Navigation are all part of the Maps apk, but I don't know if it would be safe to uninstall them as use Maps quite a bit, & Navigation gets the odd outing on Road trips. The rest I use apart from News & Weather so not uninstalled them to find out.

I've deleted retail demo, not sure what it is though.

I think talk back is an access ability app, it's available in the Play Store. If you search for it on there it'll tell you what it is.

I want to clean up my wife's phone, but as root is needed, where can I find a valid root tutorial for ICS where I DON'T need to flash an entirely new ROM? Is there a 'superoneclick' available for LT18?

I've been looking around and most topics are meant for GB or need you to flash a complete rom first.

This topic has a lot of info but is a mess and info overload, it mentions a superoneclick method (whick I can't download) but it also mentions a script (which I can't execute as I don't have CWM?)

And also this:
Can´t Root with flashtools. Use the root with recovery tutorial (in this post) to root( for unlocked bootloaders)

versus
You have to root with the latest version of flashtools 0.4.1.

There's no need for a custom ROM.
Just root ICS with ZergRush and then clean the system

I have a few things not on that list I want to know about. First off is it really safe to disable CrashMonitor? Also I have Video Unlimited and Music Unlimited. I have backed those up and uninstalled them with TB. I now have a couple of other services running I am unsure of. Custom Services and SecureClockService (any ideas on those two?).

    Hello guys,
as you might remember I posted a tutorial on how to remove Junk Apps for 2.3.4 firmwares.
A lot of people requested the same for 4.0.3 - so here it is guys :)
I decided to open a new topic to keep it clearly arranged for Android 2.3 and Android 4.0.
    So let's get started:

How to delete the Junk Apps:
Go into "system/app" with Root Explorer, in that folder are all the Junk Apps. Now press "Mount R/W". Now you can delete the Junk Apps one by one or multi-select them. To have a backup of the apps, I'd suggest you to move them to the sd card. It's good to make a folder called "Junk Apps - name of the firmware" on your sd card.
Now select the apps, press move and go to the sd card and to the folder "Junk Apps - name of the firmware" and press paste. Done.

List of the Junk Apps for 4.1.A.0.562:
    - adobereader.apk (Adobe Reader)
    - antradioservice.apk (ANT Radio Service)
    - chinesetextinput.apk (chinese keyboard)
    - datatrafficswitch.apk (Data on/off widget)
    - DigitalClockWidget.apk (digital clock widget)
    - Home.apk (Sony launcher, only delete this when you have another launcher installed!!)
    - JapaneseIME.apk (japanese keyboard)
    - letsgolf_ay.apk (Let's Golf)
    - livewaremanager.apk (Live Ware Manager)
    - neoreader.apk (Neoreader)
    - officesuite.apk (Office Suite)
    - OmaDatasyncService.apk (part of Sony Sync)
    - playnowclientarvato.apk (Play Now)
    - POBoxSknPink.apk (skin for chinese keyboard)
    - POBoxSknWood.apk (skin for chinese keyboard)
    - Protips.apk (Android tips on homescreen)
    - SemcCrashMonitor.apk (Crash Monitor)
    - SEMCSetupWizard.apk (Setup Wizard)
    - Stk.apk (SIM Tool Kit)
    - storefront.apk (all the new stuff that has something to do with Fun&Downloads. Removes 3 items from the app drawer that belong to that game thing)
    - Sync.apk (Sony Sync)
    - Talk.apk (Google Talk)
    - talkback.apk
    - trackid.apk (Track ID)
    - UpdateCenter.apk (Update Center)
    - usersupport.apk (Support)
    - WeatherWidget.apk (Weather widget)
    - widgetanalogclock.apk (Clock widget)
    - widgetcalendar.apk (Calendar widget)
    - widgetdigitalclock.apk (digital clock widget)
    - widgetonoff.apk (most on/off widgets)
    - widgettimer.apk (timer widget)
    - widgetworldclock.apk (world clock widget)

I've removed all these apps from my Xperia Arc and it's running fine and faster than before. Also you have more free RAM so your apps don't get killed as fast anymore when you minimized them.

This might also work on other Xperias when they are on the mentioned firmware, too. But I can't test that.

    Thanks to:
doomed151 for posting a list of all stock apps in system/app for me

Do this at your own risk. I'm not responsible if you brick or damage your phone by doing this!

If this helped you, please press "Thanks"

    Regards,

Can install and remove these easily. I'll add more soon. ;)
