Just rooted my g2. Have a silly question.. I'm coming from a gnex and I had used goo manager to install twrp recovery. The g2 seems a bit more finicky. Will this method not work in this situation? I don't have access to a pc. TIA.

Nope sorry goo manager wont work with the G2. I used flashify to install it without a problem which without a pc would be good for you but Odin is recommended.

sent from canada via my S4,Note 3 or G2

Thanks for the quick reply. I read there may be some issues with bootloops on flashify? As long as I find the latest version of twrp for t-mo I should be good?

Hi,

The "root-linux.sh" is not working on Verizon variant VS98010B, running log is included in the end.

I suggest this OTAVER line:
Code:
OTAVER=`$ADB shell getprop ro.lge.swversion`
be changed into:
Code:
OTAVER=`$ADB shell getprop ro.lge.swversion | tr -d '\r'`
(Other carriers's sections should be updated as well)
adb returns strings with "\r\n" line ending, so "$OTAVER" will contain "VS98010B\r", none of the following if clauses would get executed.

BTW some of the line-endings in "root-linux.sh" are "\r\n", not "\n", those should be cleaned up as well.

We don't have an unlock for this Verizon OTA version yet.

press CTRL-C to stop this script.
You will have a rooted ADB, but no apps on the phone will be able
to access root functions.

Hi, just got my LG G2 (D802), I'm interested to root this new phone, as lots of my previous phone data require rooted phone. Can you please share the steps to root and un-root G2 (802). And, also advise please, how to get OTA updaes after the phone is rooted.

And, what happen, when you unroot, does the phone says "unrooted" or "rooted" and the warranty voids?

Hello. I bought open LG G2 D802. Tried rooting it using this method. Everything went fine, I received no errors. But when trying to launch SuperSU app, it provides an error message saying "There is no SU binary installed, and SuperSU can not install it. This is a problem!" and it quits after pressing button "OK". Running the script again gives an error saying that supersuser.apk already exists and quits. Tried installing other super user apps from the playstore, but none of them worked. What to do now?

Several users root their G2 phones ( the D802 from Vodafone/Germany) with this method (i found that in some german Forums), but before the 10c update.
Has anyone here successfully rooted the G2 D80210c (Vodafone/Germany) with the 10c update) ?

Thanks in advance

question, in following that guide and using the patched TWRP in the other thread, i see the guide shows pushing .IMG files, whereas the patched TWRP is a .LOK file. are those interchangeable in that flashing a .LOK or .IMG file is the same exact thing?
