ok well this is juust an idea but i have a droid and the way that i get rosie to stop reloding is i use swap and that fixes evrything but idk if that is kernal based or not and we need this on the droid cus i love the new sense jameselle is working on it but he is not nearly as fast at getting things done as you dexter

What you forget to realize is that the Motorola Milestone is GSM and the Droid is CDMA. The port is going to be much more difficult. So don't put Jamzelle's work down or say he is "slow". If you really want it done "faster" do it yourself.

HELLO
just a question .. ..
do you think that the upcoming MOTOROLA MILESTONE 2 in europe/asia would be better at handling HTC sense than the first generation MILESTONE?
THANKS

Yes.
Milestone 2 will have more Ram than our "old" milestones ( I think it has 512 mb ram)
But it will be difficult cos motorola will lock the bootloader from Milestone 2 too.

i can confirm this.. i had the "MotoBlur" running on Milestone1, so why not do a reserve upgrade on that model.. so thats a definate yes!!

but this does not resolve bluetooth issues.. that framework and a driver incompatbility issue.. lotsa programming to do here.. probably years work!

The sense setting widgets are little incorrect. Can you please fix it ? Thanks

Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App

please post a screenshot , and indicate the problem, and look into it..

i have been using it for days myself, and did not notice graphics issues, becides weather fullscreen, thats another OpenGL problem, as our drivers for hardware simply do not support the functionality. logfile clealy indicates the problems..

Ive been out of the country, and had my FroyoSense installed, although with reloads, it works well..
- i noticed that movie playback on some internet sites showing trailes did not go well, but flash works well with games :)

- i made some updates to the battery life, the phone is on 50% since 06.00 this morning that like 16hrs but just like 10-15mins calls only.. but somehow the problem seen on motoFrenzy is not existing here...

- VPN does not work..

but becides this, lets have swap enabled, with 2ndboot, and im sure FroyoSense will be a hit!!! (if you can survive without bluetooth for now)

Does anyone know or can link me to the information of second boot with swap?

that was of course wishful thinking from my side.. it does not yet exists..
its work in progress from the cool guys on IRC trying to make the milestone survive the era with other models coming out with 512MB (like ms2)

so its not working yet...

Dear Dexter,

I've tried this rom and I think there's a problem with wallpaper: I set it, it was there and rosie reloaded, I'm back with the dark screen and "HTC Sense Live wallpaper Force Close"...

Apart from that, it was just as slow as I can ever think of, like HTC Dream running full-sense from Hero @_@

as written in post #1, chose a new wallpaper and the problem is gone, it was part of a "watermark" issue.

original ms is 550Mhz, so you htc phone can easily compete 4x less resolution and less resource requirement, so resolution makes the big difference, not on senseui but with other apps..
but i run it with 800mhz now, and its pretty smooth here, but i have not installed much to minimize the chances of finding bugs where other apps could interfer or take up battery.. so only way to test is a clean install for me..

Sorry about Screenshot. What i mean is, Add Widget -> Settings -> Mobile Data or Wifi or any of these Settings Widgets. Enable or Disable. The Icon text is on bottom out of the box. You can try yourself.

This widget on the old Sense v0.5 was correct.

This widget on the old Sense v0.5 was correct.

different firmware :) new type of widgets.. but yes, i can confirm this, it looks wrong..add probably another scaling issue in AddWidget.apk, ill look into this, i did not scan all apps for old resolution and fixed it..
so other apps might also have similar oddiities , which looks maybe incorrect..

thanks for the info and hints..
this way i can improve graphics getting the right leads.. just getting "not working" does not help alot in fixing it..

That's what I meant , I chose another one, I clicked Set, it appeared there for 1 sec then Rosie reloaded immediately then I was left with the dark screen and Force Close again.

I set it at 800 as well, might be slow because I have too much content I think. I'm not complaining at all, this is awesome to be honest. I'm just saying my feeling only, the old time with Magic has been back :p

no, sense live wallpaper don't work.

Another info: This rom is faster as cm6 alpha if you benchmark with quadrant and Linpack.

it might get different, i used htc vm completely now, and havent tested speeds..
but i can say somehow it works differently, but reloads WILL still happen and we all know why..

sense live wallwaper is another OpenGL problem , like worldclock weather widget, it uses some GL functions not supported by the current drivers.
i dont think htc gl drivers can be used as our hardware is written for version 1.21 and even droidx GL 1.25 does not work with our milestone device..

most of the problem with speed you are having is because the htc ace has 768 MB ram which IS THREE TIMES THAT OF THE MILESTONE.

Once the milestone can enable swap and compcache most of that should clear up and the build should be FAST!

    BATTERY SAVING HELP
some good guidelines to a long battery life.
    1. Wifi when enabled, is not disabled when phones goes standby, go into Wifi menu, and press menu -> advanced, and change wifi power saving behaviour to as example after 15mins, this increases battery saving alot.
    2. If you dont use 3G at all, disable 3G in the Mobile data setting it to GSM ONLY network, this will also increase battery life.
    3. If you start DLNA feature of this ROM, and dont use it anymore, enter "administer programs" -> running services and stop the DLNA service, HTC made some stupid scanning feature which takes up alot of CPU and phone starts lagging alot too.
Using this guideline you gain almost 5 days of pure standby time without loss of battery charge, which i can confirm here.

    EXTRAS
this image has also many functions from MotoFrenzy, like shortcut keys on hw keyboard
-Keyboard shortcut functions (hold all 3 keys to activate)
    - Spotlight on/off switch (LEFT SHIFT + A + DPAD CENTER)
    - hw keyboard light switch (LEFT SHIFT + A + L)
    - (not in 2.2kernel) : Enable apps2sd (LEFT SHIFT + A + U)
    - (not in 2.2kernel) : diable apps2sd (LEFT SHIFT + A + T)
    - start adb (LEFT SHIFT + A + X)
    - copy all downloaded apps (LEFT SHIFT + A + P)
    - kill launcher (LEFT SHIFT + A + ENTER)

    - overclocking
    - like in MotoFrenzy, add "overclock" file to your sdcard root dir, and those settings
    will be activated during boot.
default is activated with 550Mhz only.

    STATE OF FUNCTIONALITY

    ISSUES Reported by users
    - less space left in storage /data (approx. 120MB)
    - Native AP teeter do not work
    - Locations app removed, (incompatible with milestone hardware and its 256MB memory)
    - Notification leds not supported, HTC works differently on their hardware
    - adding a picture to a contact, causes FC when added. Solution: use the kill launcher shortcut when you're adding pictures to contacts, to free up memory.

BASEBAND RADIOS for v0.1 ONLY, 0.2+ needs manual install
See http://dext3r.komodin.org/ for details on baseband radio in the FAQ

    EVERYTHING WORKS EXCEPT:
    - EXT2 (apps2sd sdcard filesystem) - no kernel module available.
    - Bluetooth (will probably never work good, unless i work very, very, very intensive on this matter.

    REMOVED:
    - some malware products
    - EReader (not working)

    CHANGELOG
    v0.25v patch
    - added usb.apk + deskclock.apk into a patchupdate , which should make updating easier for most.
put the update into the /OpenRecovery/updates folder, and use "apply update" to install it.
    v0.25v
    + odex'd edition of DesireZ 1.23.405.3 framework + app.
    + better landscape support here.
+ included missing apps and place more apps in /system/data so you can remove in "manage apps" for easy removal.
    v0.25
+ HTC Camera fix 5Mpixel supported now. (HTC camcorder not working, use motorola camcorder here)
+ Keyboard fix from recoveries should be supported now.
+ Slate.apk now included (lotsa errors in log due to this)
+ More fonts supported now by languages, like RTL as well. (let me know if not)
+ semi fix for market download (Max single app download from Market is 16MB)
+ wallpaper fix at first boot
+ default ringtone and notification tones now working again.
    + VoiceSearch fixed
+ added kernel optimizations from "kernel optimize" thread.
+ HOME still has -17 as priority
+ Added keyboard shortcut to kill launcher (SHIFT+A+ENTER)
+ moved 90MB apps to /cache (more free storage space)
    - problems with Talk.apk & Street.apk (please download from here)
    v0.23
    - bootanimation fix (now uses htc boot + sound)
    - htc locations fix
    - Google Deskclock (for docking station users)
    - DLNA service fix (this is really CPU intensive)

    v0.22
    - finally beat the reload issue with rosie launcher.

    v0.21
    - problems with HTC Hub, build.prop identified a milestone.
    * i chose to remove milestone, so do NOT unload overclock module, or you cannot reload it, as your phone will now look like "Desire HD"
    - Removed "update.zip" links.. too many having problems with them, and kernel was not included.
    - New superuser.apk + su added
    - Overclock app is now in /system/app , so you manually need to do delete it here, if you wish to update app.
    v0.2a
    - Camera fixed!!! now HTC & original motorola camera is included and works.
    v0.2
    - Kernel 2.6.32-9 based
    - odex'd rom to minimize reloads (not so successfull though)
    - uses native USB activation to minimize battery drain.
    - Based on latest HTC DesireHD rom 1.32.405.3
v0.1a this patch update can be found on my website
    - small wma fix update
    - Deskclockgoogle.apk added for milestones with docking station :)

v0.1 - USB is working (the HTC way!)
    - GPS is working (not sure if it support quicklock)
    - 800x480 graphics corrected, now 854x480 (milestone)
    - fix of ext2 filesystems (apps2sd)
    - fixed adobe pdf reader.
    - added root'd function + app
    - added milestone v1.2 app (sorry problems with 1.4.2)

WARNING: Use this image at your own risk and i take no responsibility if
you brick your phone.. Image has been tested on a UK milestone and works fine if all files in ADB recovery image is used.
    4
I will try and dig into this probably first during this weekend... a small quick fix hopefully. i will not try updating framework etc.. just kernel + wifi and if something else is currently buggy. memory issues will probably remain as is..
    3
Looking forward to the update! Thx Dexter...

    you have been served!

See post #1 for the update!!

    PS:
I cannot say what effect it has, but i can see it works as usual (i hope) let me know if there is major differences in functions.
Since kernels are with same revision name, i think both kernels will work fine, so you can continue the "experiments" from here, with my patch update of kernel modules needed.
    2
This is a *HOT* preview .. seems the leak is already dissappearing from the net as i write this.....youtube videos of this new update is getting removed!

so a nice preview i guess.. on a Motorola Milestone :) and the phone is not even released yet...
    2
ok, i will look into a quick patch, or full image update, as i recall v0.25v miss the important usb patch which also is available as patch, not a biggie but maybe nice to do a 0.26 that has almost all included.
