Ok, so both of those were true, they came from the zip file like that, I did change the download location which seemed to work. I had installed the LG program to flash it back to the orginal a while back and it is located in the program files folder. Wipped it and replaced with the unzipped files and it went through like a champ. 6.5 min later, RC3 was up and running.

Still to early to tell anything about the rom, looks pretty though. Just figured I'd post incase anyone else is having the same issue.

I am loving this new release. Also, the new on screen keyboard is the best I've ever used. My fat thumbs thank you. Sensor's all seem to be working, and the device is snappy. IE seems to run well, .... atleast with out the glitches that I'm use to. Clean build, running well. Thank you so very much.... and if you got more, keep them coming.

Well I'm glad you guys like it. :)

djuroganovic, I'm not sure there is much we can do about the GPS receiver in this thing. I used to have a i-Blue 737 Bluetooth GPS receiver that was AMAZING. I could get a lock on 11 satellites while in a hotel conference room (bottom floor of a medium sized hotel) in under 30 seconds, every time. The GPS receiver in my HTC Touch Pro was horrendous (part of why I stopped using it).

With my GW825 it really depends on the weather and where I am. Today at work, I got a lock in 2 minutes (varies between 5 & 8 satellites) after a soft reset. I am in the top floor of the building, but it is very cloudy and rainy. Yesterday, at the park I got a 10 satellite lock in under a minute, but it was clear and sunny.

In our radio lab we have a GPS re-radiator and with it running I can get a 11 satellite lock in a few seconds after a hard reset.

Anyway, I suppose I could look into Assisted GPS to speed up the initial lock.

good news rc3 works fine on 825v
but I can no longer install Chinese fonts, maybe it's because of the new kernal.

I'm glad it works for you electricbug.

Regarding your camera and fonts issues. I have removed a lot of OEM software. My OEM is under 70 MB uncompressed. The original GW825V OEM is 360 MB uncompressed. Despite the reduction, all of the original GW825V drivers are included.

I'm assuming you have the same problems with RC1 and RC2?

Do you have a dump of the GW825V ROM?

I am using the Camera from the GW825 since the GW825V camera has minor font issues and the GW820 camera includes Video Sharing. You may need the GW825V camera application to use the front facing camera.

70M is amazing. It's even smaller than some 6.1 roms.I didn't try RC2&RC1 for our tragic bandwidth with downstream up to 50kbps,I'll try them this weekend. last time i dumped 825v's rom i can't zip it again. If I got some free time I will try it again on another computer.

the new 6.5.3 kernal is different from old ones.Registry such as [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\FontLink\SystemLink]not even appear. So currently I have not idea how to make RC3 display Chinese correctly instead of □□.

Voice command, monaco torch

I'm loving this ROM, which is snappy and stable for me.

A few questions:
Does voice command work? I'm used to pressing and holding the return button to launch voice command; is there a different procedure, or do I need to do something to make it work?
The camera and its flash work fine, but Monaco Torch isn't working for me. Any ideas about troubleshooting it?
I miss the fingerprint reader. Would it be easy to add, and does it consume a lot of resources?

Thanks for your work and for your help!

Well I'm glad you like it. :)

Voice Command works, but for some reason holding the back button doesn't work any more. You can assign it to another button if you need it now (for example the task manager button). It works fine as is with my Bluetooth headset. I never use the back button to launch it so it hasn't been a high priority issue. I will see if I can fix it before I release RC4.

Are you using version 1.0.3 of MonacoTorch?
http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=759719
It works on my phone but it's running preRC4.

I haven't gotten around to the fingerprint reader yet. I've been working on the Camera; trying to decide which one to use (GW820,GW825,GW825V,VS750) and whether I should include the 3D gallery.

Thanks for all the effort you're putting in, even if I'm not likely to ever run it ...loving my optimus 7 :|

http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=759719
It works on my phone but it's running preRC4.

It should just require CameraPlatform.dll, and whatever it links to. I'm on the other laptop so I don't have the exact list handy.

I'm still around and reading occassionally if there is actually anything MT requires a recompile for. I'm planning on releasing the source eventually, however my list of things to do first is hefty at the moment. :(

Hmm, well I just flashed RC3 to my phone and then installed MonacoTorch 1.0.3 and it seemed to work just fine.

Perhaps you should re-download 1.0.3 to make sure you have the newest version. The previous version did not support the GW825V (which this ROM is based on).

OK, I figured out the VoiceCommand issue.

Button 7 (hold return button) doesn't work with the keypad.dll that is included with the GW825V. Using the keypad.dll from the GW820G made it work again.

I will use the keypad.dll from the GW820G in RC4 and beyond.

    RC4-1.png

    Release Candidate 4

    - I'm open to suggestions for a new name.

    Anyway, here are the details....

    Code:
    RC1

    OEM
    - OEMBT from VS750 v5
    - OEMDrivers from GW825V (cleaned up, more can be done)
    - OEMDriversHigh from GW825V
    - OEMMisc (heavily cleaned up, base files from GW820G)
    - OEM_DPI_192 (empty)
    - OEM_Lang_0409 (cleaned up, initflashfiles.dat could use some more work)
    - PACKAGE_Monaco_AdobePDF (2.5.0.0 / 1.0.404840)
    - PACKAGE_Monaco_AutoTimeUpdate (Syncs to time zone, does not notify)
    - PACKAGE_Monaco_ButtonConfig (custom button config)
    - PACKAGE_Monaco_Camera (missing some files)
    - PACKAGE_Monaco_InvokeSIMMgr (from HTC)
    - PACKAGE_Monaco_OEMDialer (stock MS dialer with proximity sensor support)
    - PACKAGE_Monaco_RotateManager
    - PACKAGE_Monaco_Settings (Power.exe & SensorSettings.exe from VS750, Bandprop.cpl from GW825V)
    - PACKAGE_Monaco_Shared
    - PACKAGE_Monaco_Shutdown (stock shutdown animation)
    - PACKAGE_Monaco_SIM_Mgr (from HTC)
    - PACKAGE_Monaco_TaskManager_v3_1 (still v3.1, don't like newest version)

    XIP
    - MSXIP from 23127
    - OEMXIP from GW825V
    - WinCENLS from GW820G

    SYS
    - Stock 23127
    - added ADC
    - added RemoteDesktopMobile from 23127
    - added Transcriber from 21913
    - added VoiceCommand from 21913

This ROM is based off the official GW825V release, so there are a few Chinese surprises here and there (like when you charge the phone while off).

I based it off of the GW825V because somehow it offers around 7MB of extra storage and program memory (as seen above).

electricbug, to restore the ability to use the front camera, I believe you only need LGCamera.exe & LGCamera.swf from the original GW825V ROM.

I have attached them to this post if you want to test my theory.

Any feedback? I've noticed that only a few people have downloaded it. Maybe everyone has already moved on to Android and Windows 7? :(

I don't know. I have a ton of stuff on the go right now (my poor site hasn't been updated in a month).

I haven't found many issues or things I want to change with RC4 so if I did release a RC5 it would probably be final and it would only have a few minor changes. The biggest annoyance for me is that the Fn key seems to stick for one extra character, but I'm not sure how to fix that. A different SIP would correct the problem, but I like this one. :(
