I know nada when it comes to Linus and such.
I have kind of understtod that it's necessary to be able to boot HaRET to be able to launch Android and it's not possible at the moment because of unknown IRQs and GPIOS (just spitting out what I've read a few posts ago).

I've done a little bit of reading on HaRET and there seem to be a GPIOs polling function included which you launch from a desktop PC remotely connected to the device.

Has anyone tried it?

IRQs and GPIOs are being investigated and documented on wiki.

HaRET doesn't seem to boot the kernel yet, or, the kernel hangs in a very early stage. I'm still trying to figure that one out.

I'll definitely post something here when I know something is running ;-)

Russians say they did it

here is a page where some russians say they managed to run android on several HTC devices including Diamond . The page is in russian so the translation is not perfectly correct.

They have it running on a Touch, and looked at pdadb.net to list other devices with the same chipset. This version was already available but doesn't work on the Diamond if I recall correctly.

I don't get it. How can they run it on the diamond when the diamond has no SD card. I say: bull****.

They are using the same cab file as already discussed in this thread...
Its not working for our kind of processor..

I'm gonna give a shot at his package, see if it really works on the Diamond.
I have a cooked rom though so might run into trouble.
Will report soon.

They mention the Diamond, but they mean the HTC Touch (non-Diamond). The one on the videos is the HTC Touch. The Touch has an already supported processor.

The vogue kit does not work on the Diamond or the Raphael, it supports the MSM7xxx processor, not the MSM7xxxA.

hi Guys
I'm checking this thread every day, every hour, I can't see the time to watch android on my Diamond but you know what, i found this demo video from youtube

The guy says exactly that the qualcomm chipset is 7201A the same of diamond

The difference is the video a wvga screen but , if you wanna see android on htc touch series here we go!!!

I watched that vid, I can't believe that they wouldn't show the contacts! They said they were only allowed to show certain apps! Its crazy, very un-Linux, un-open source of them.

I know this thread is quite old, but every other about Android link to this one. Anyway - is there Android rom for Diamond around? According to this site: http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=cpu&id=a7201a (click: Browse all devices... button at the bottom) Diamond has the same chipset as Google G1 so it should be possible to port Android from G1 directly. Has anyone tried it?
My HTC Wizard is broken and I can't decide which one should I buy next. It would be nice to have an option to switch between WM6 and Android roms.

If you'd have read through the thread, you would've known that android doesn't boot on diamond at the moment, and most likely will not at least until G1 is officially launched, which is october 22. After this date on could at least get a dumb that provides something more to work on...

i tried the kaiser android and the selfcompiled version 'marbalon' posted somewhere in this thread, both with the provided haret.exe and haret-0.5.2.exe from the web

no surprise it doesn't boot... but i wonder why even the newest haret gets the machine info wrong, my haretconsole says

I want to repeat it again. For those who do not read the complete thread.
Kaiser/vogue/msm7x00 linux kernels WILL NEVER work on msm720xA devices
(diamond/raphael).

Address space does not really matter (these values are returned by wince),
and armv6 is detected correctly.
