Worked for me using Pseudonym117's debloated UCLL3. Flashed the hack, placed a custon bootanimation.zip in System/Media, fixed permissions, and renamed the original.

Restarted, and I have Android pissing on an Apple. Lol!

The animation is a bit on the short side though, and stops well short of where the original animation would go to.

Dude these are awesome! AOKP made it easy to use. Just go to the custom boot screen settings and it's all good from there! Spoiled by the PACMAN ROM

this does not work with stock ics 4.0.4 skyrocket!

INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS

USE THE LATEST TWRP(IM ON 2.3.3.0) OR SK8'S CWM(NOT TESTED) TO FLASH
MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR ROM
BOOTANIMATION HACK - FLASH THIS IN RECOVERY FIRST
ONCE ABOVE FILE IS FLASHED AND YOU DONT FLASH ANY CUSTOM BOOT ANIMATIONS YOU WILL GET THE GLOWING "ANDROID" TEXT ANIMATION.
ONCE ABOVE FILE IS FLASHED YOU THEN CAN FLASH SUPPORTED CUSTOM BOOT ANIMATIONS LISTED BELOW THAT WERE TESTED.

DISABLE CUSTOM BOOTANIMATIONS -FLASH IN RECOVERY TO UNDO THE HACK AND REVERTS BOOTANIMATION BACK TO STOCK
EXTRA STEP: TO MANUALLY ADD OR CLEAN UP CUSTOM BOOTANIMATIONS GOTO "SYSTEM/MEDIA" AND ADD OR DELETE "BOOTANIMATION.ZIP"

NOTE: IF YOU FLASHED A BOOTANIMATION THAT IS NOT SUPPORTED BY THE LEAK YOU WILL GET BLACK SCREEN AT BOOT, NO ITS NOT BRICKED, BUT I HAVE NOT TESTED EVERY BOOTANIMATION OUT THERE. TO RESOLVE:
DO A FORCED REBOOT BACK INTO RECOVERY AND DO ONE OR ALL OF THESE STEPS:
-FLASH ONE OF BOOTANIMATIONS FROM BELOW.
-FLASH THE "DISABLE CUSTOM BOOTANIMATIONS" FILE.
-DO THE "EXTRA STEP" FROM ABOVE.

i understand the only way to get the boot animations to work on the stock 4.0.4 ics is to change the kernal, how can i change the kernal on this stock rom? please someone can you point me to the right direction or the right thread to show me how to change my kernal on this ics on this skyrocket. im currently running the stock 3.0.8-1127534 kernal,baseband i727ucli............ any help will be greatly appreciated! thankyou

works like a champ on samsung galexy reverb by virgin mobile android 4.1.2 CWM v 6.0.2.3
just need to replace the sounds manually and ill be set!.

Can you repost the Boot Animation Hack? Link doesn't work

I am trying to get the Bootanimation working on rooted stock JB.

    Is there any way to speed up or shorten boot animations or is the speed determined by certain system requirements? I've noticed a difference in a few. Just curious.

    you need to edit the "desc.txt" within the "bootanimation.zip" file, but if you muck it up you will get a blackscreen on boot.
