My screen is very slightly raised on the left side. Not enough for most people to notice (that don't know the issue is there). Touch screen wise it works fine. Mine doesn't sound like that video at all.

For me it looks and sounds like adhesive issue. First it wasn't that bad. At the beginning when I have pressed screen it stays for a while then pops up. After 2 hours of usage (mostly typing) it became what you see and hear on a video.

So far no word from Google, even after posting that video :\

Over the telephone, I was told they would send me a replacement first. I don't believe anything they say though. The people at customer service seem to have no knowledge and just exist so google can claim they have customer service.

The telephone call basically resulted in them saying "we will contact you in a few days." They didn't even bother to say how they would contact me. I had to ask "By email?" and they said "Yes."

Hopefully I'm wrong but this is what I think will happen if you need to send your Nexus in for replacement:

1. Google sends you a prepaid postage slip via email 24-48 hours after requesting an RMA.
2. Google instructs you in the email to print out the postage slip and place the Nexus in the box which UPS shipped it to you in. Apply the new label and drop off at UPS.
3. Upon arrival at Google, they will examine the Nexus 7 and determine if you are qualified for warranty service.
4. 3-4 weeks later you will receive your new (might be refurbished if they actually have to repair them) Nexus 7.

Here is my ordeal!

Bought Nexus 7 16GB from Canada Computers -- Glass separation (Returned)
Bought Nexus 7 16GB from Future Shop -- Glass Seperation (Returned)
Bought Nexus 7 16GB from another Future Shop -- Glass Separation

Keeping the Nexus 7 I have for now. Future Shop offers 14 day return policy, so I'll see if my 16GB from Play Store ships before then if so I'll return the one from Future Shop.

I'm swapping mine for one staples is bringing to my house tomorrow. When mine arrived yesterday, it was hot. The ones in staples may have been shipped in better conditions...we'll see.

Also, my shipping conditions were poor. The nexus 7 came bundled in a much larger box than it was and lacked packing foam/cushioning that you see with newegg and Amazon shipments

This is exactly what I'm talking about re: exchanging them at this point. It's a waste of time. I'd love a Nexus 7 but have held off so far because I'm afraid of buying anything Asus after my experiences with the Prime. If I did end up getting one and had this issue, and if it didn't cause any "real" problems (i.e., touch sensitivity), I'd keep the device, monitor it to see if it got worse, and exchange it months down the line if it got worse and if there were reports that Asus fixed the issue (unlikely - they're a garbage company).

Anyone get through to customer service lately? I'm curious as to the on-hold times. Yesterday I got through in 5-minutes.

Read - potential fix for glass separation!
Hey guys, this was posted by "Emily Chu" on NeoGAF as a potential fix for Nexus 7 glass separation problems, please read and check it out, it seems like a simple fix! I'm at work right now so I cannot try this myself, but if any brave soul is willing to do it, it could potentially fix our problems. I attached her images below:

I was getting downright depressed, the left side of my 7's screen was becoming very loose and creeky from the silver lining.

Was going to exhanged it at my gamestop they told me they only had enough for preorders
I visited Ifixit and saw that there were some screws inside where the loose side of the screen was. could that be the problem ?

they had this 2.99$ opener thingy but I was like hmm **** that just carefully gentlely nudged the backside with my fingernails and lo and behold....
tighten up the screws a bit all around NO MORE CREEKY SHITTY LOOSE SCREEN ON THE LEFT SIDE!!!! tight as a button
wtf asus and google and china.......

OMG.... back cover was just a shell..... zero internals
I also liked how there was no "this may void your warranty" **** stickers that connected the two shells together....
now if there was a way to hack a mirco sd card slot and rear camera in there.... hmm...... the plot thickens.....
hell there even seems to be a slot for a rear camera for **** sakes.... .

good as new and right as rain : D

oh and I consider the battery user replaceable now :P

I have been trying all morning. On hold for 30-50 mins and sometimes even an hour.. Didn't get to speak to any specialist who seems to be speaking to all other customers except me...

Thanks, I didn't know. Either way, that makes 2 cases where it worked for people. I'm going to give it a shot when I get home! My tablet is perfect outside of this annoying issue.

Frustrating, I was on hold for 30 minutes before I gave up. I have more important things to do today. I regret preordering from the Play Store now, as it will be a bitch to return. Plus I doubt they can keep up with the demand of preorders and those asking for an exchange. At this point all I want to do is return my N7, then maybe pick one up locally a month from now.
