I flashed the file in op. It fixed the write issue on ext card but the card still doesn't appear on the list in es file exp. Any solution?

Go Backup works fine for me as long as premissions are set correctly on the /mnt/media_rw directory, then force stop and restart Go Backup. My earlier post regarding this issue:

ES File Explorer didn't work for me either, but Root Browser did. Try that. Also, check my earlier post below:

you are definitely right. But that change doesn't persists after reboot. That is a bit inconvenient.

@henrik.dk How often do you actually use Go Backup? I use it maybe once a week maybe. I think it is well worth the inconvenience of two or three clicks to change permissions to have a backup of all your files and settings.

I can't change edit the folder permissions even with root access (using ES File Explorer) it doesn't let me to delete or edit the files.. any help? Flashing works but then again I don't want to enter recovery every and flash it all over every time I need to reboot.

Look at my above post. If ES File Explorer does not work, try another file browser like Root Explorer, which is the only one that works for me.

So here is the fix:
Method 1
1.) Download the extsdcardfix-flashable.zip below and save to sdcard
2.) Reboot to recovery (CWM/TWRP)
3.) Flash the zip
4.) Reboot

Method 2
1.) Download the platform.xml.zip attatchment and extract
2.) Navigate to ~/system/etc/permissions
3.) Replace the platforms.xml with this one
4.) Set permissions as RW-R--R-- (644)
5.) Reboot and test if apps now have access to external storage

And NOTE this may or may not work so do so at your own risk!

It works on Xperia Z1?

this temporary solved my all problems.....works on both all S4 Versions i950.........

<permission name="android.permission.READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE" >
<group gid="sdcard_r" />
<group gid="media_rw" />
</permission>

<permission name="android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE" >
<group gid="sdcard_r" />
<group gid="sdcard_rw" />
<group gid="media_rw" />
</permission>

<permission name="android.permission.ACCESS_ALL_EXTERNAL_STORA GE" >
<group gid="sdcard_r" />
<group gid="sdcard_rw" />
<group gid="sdcard_all" />
</permission>

or download the file and flash it via recovery
plus set 744 permission on folder mnt/media_rw [on every reboot]
Using root explorer manually
