If you see the message after the presses, then the notification works - but you've just missed it.
Try the "Test" function in OpenWatch. Does it vibrate and do you see an envelope? If no, then turn on the vibrate/envelope in the watch menu (the envelope with "X" cross on it).

hehe feel a it of a plank now

i always had that turned off when using smartwatchm so i didnt get the envelope displayed so yes it was off

now its on it works fine

thanks

Sorted K9 for now to an extent i have exchange mail syncing both ways and K9 just syncing incoming as i cant get k9 to sync outgoing
but at least k9 now notifys me via openwatch which will do until i can work out how to get outgoing working

thanks for all the help

Same here on my Nexus One, same behavior with 2.1 and 2.2. MBW-150. I've tried playing with settings. I don't get the disconnect signal from the watch when this happens. If there is anything I can do to test, please let me know!

Thanks for great software! I had my watch packed away and was ready to Ebay until I found this had been released for Android. When it's connected, it works flawlessly.

Should be better with 0.6.0.

The 0.6.0 work flawlessly on froyo. From when I updated it yesterday till now, I had no more disconnections.

So I found this app today and now I really want one of these watches, though they are quite expensive...

I was looking around and found a good deal ($99) on a refurbished MBW-150 Music Bluetooth Watch at icraveit, and was wondering if anyone else has bought it from here... I don't want to buy something that doesn't work...

Can't post links yet... but here:

Still can't get it to work on my Legend,

- Put my watch in pair mode
- Go to bluetooth settins menu and pair it
- Go to Openwatch and press start
- It says "watch disconnected"

Tried MBW-150 and update MBW-150...and yes it's a real one with five buttons

And that's it....:(

Hi, I love cool apps and ideas like these, so I can't shake the idea of getting one of these watches for myself. I'm looking for one of the mbw 150 ones, preferably the white face one with the brown leather band. Anyone know where to find one?

GTalk notification doesn't seem to work with my N1 (Froyo) and my MBW-150.
Does anyone have similar problems?

3rd party applications on Android are not permitted to do that (use the TelephonyManager for that nor inject key press).

Thanx for that fantastic tool, works perfectly with my mbw-150 & htc desire.

Just two short questions:

Is it possible to reject a call with OpenWatch when I install the TelephonyManager?

Where's the paypal donation button on this site?

I've got real one too... still no luck and same thing, paired but not connected. When I open openwatch and hit start, it will show me waiting for connection and it is showing disconnected status, BUT, when someone is calling me, it shows me name and number on the watch! so it looks like it is connected, but in some strange way?! openwatch is showing not connected all the time... I think the problem is in the ROM, as the kernel is using old sources, we will need to wait for HTC official release and then it will hopefully work :)

Thanks!

just update, with official 2.1 ROM for HERO OpenWatch is working like a charm!!!

unfortunately for me the only place I found a mbw150 for a reasonable price in the US is now out of stock. They say they'll get more but I doubt it.

It's pretty possible. I will try to check that.

What TelephonyManager? It's not possible to reject a call with current API. Key simulation works (with root access)... for everything except the End call button. Too bad.

Hi moneytoo

LOVING the twitter notifications - best feature in the program at the moment! For the next version is it possible to customise so that you're only alerted on DMs/@mentions, or is it not possible to tell when you pick up the notifications?

I'm still getting very high Partial Wake usage on my phone, which is causing shorter battery life. I'm working around this by underclocking when the screen's off, which is helping a bit, but it's still short. Is it necessary to hold onto a partial wake lock to stay paired? Is it possible to release the lock to let the phone sleep, but still stay connected?

Cheers

If you can't connect your SE MBW using OpenWatch, please help me find out what's wrong with some HTC Legend (or other models).

1) Try this version: http://beta.smartmadsoft.com/test/OpenWatch.apk
Any change?

2) Connect your phone to the PC, run following command and post the output. Unfortunately this will require root. Skip this if you don't have one.
Code:
adb shell
su
sdptool browse local

3) This one would be the most useful for me.
Start BT connection in OpenWatch (the grayed out icon should be displayed in the notification bar). Go to System settings, BT and make your phone discoverable.
Run this on linux machine and post the output
Code:
sdptool browse

You should set what to sync in the Twitter app.

OpenWatch sets partial wake only for the shortest needed time, but not when the watch is connected, screen is off and there's no communication.
You can see this partial wake "lock acquired" and "lock released" from OpenWatch (tag "ow") in logcat to check if the partial wake lock is released or not.

Thanks a lot for the response! I'd had a look at logcat but coudn't find anything openw* or *watch :)

This is from a quick test I just did with logcat -v time ow:V *:S

Booted phone
Opened OpenWatch
Pressed Menu -> Start
Pressed Play/Stop on watch (connected)
Sent myself a test email (got notification on watch)
Waited for notification to clear
Pressed Play/Stop on watch to check counts
Pressed Menu -> Stop & Exit in OpenWatch

Code:
--------- beginning of /dev/log/system
--------- beginning of /dev/log/main
06-21 13:18:29.797 D/ow ( 657): lock acquired
06-21 13:18:34.857 D/ow ( 657): lock acquired
06-21 13:18:41.347 D/ow ( 657): lock released
06-21 13:19:20.807 D/ow ( 657): onChange observer - unread
06-21 13:19:20.827 D/ow ( 657): current gmail unread count: 104
06-21 13:19:21.087 D/ow ( 657): onChange observer - unread
06-21 13:19:21.097 D/ow ( 657): current gmail unread count: 104
06-21 13:19:21.927 D/ow ( 657): onChange observer - unread
06-21 13:19:21.957 D/ow ( 657): current gmail unread count: 104
06-21 13:19:24.067 D/ow ( 657): lock acquired
06-21 13:19:29.092 D/ow ( 657): lock released
06-21 13:19:37.987 D/ow ( 657): lock acquired
06-21 13:19:43.538 D/ow ( 657): lock released
06-21 13:19:47.567 D/ow ( 657): lock released

As you can see, there seems to be an additional lock which is acquired when I click "Menu->Start" and released when I click "Stop & Exit". There are also locks acquired when I press Play/Stop, which I'd expect since the phone and watch are directly communication then. I'm assuming it's this "top level" lock which is preventing the phone from sleeping and causing the short battery life.

Can anyone else duplicate this effect?

Cheers

Phil

ooooh, could anyone possibly give me instructions on haw to pair an mbw-100?

mines the same with the screen faded to the point of invisible but think the rest still works

I have this saved for my MBW-150, so maybe it's the same for your MBW-100. Of course your display won't go white, but it will start pulsating/vibrating when it deletes the old pairing and automatically goes into pairing mode.

first delete the bt pairing on the phone then:
4x button on the lower right
    1x button upper right
this initiates the clock pairing mode
then press the upper and lower button on the right until the display goes white, this deletes the pairing of the clock, then long press the lower right button to initiate a new pairing
    2
Thanks but that didn't work. I thought it was bottom right button three times and top right button once, but that's not working. Since I can't see the display, I'm can't even say for sure if the watch is really charging. Until it's charged, Bluetooth won't turn on anyway. Does anyone else remember?

Hold down the lower right button and the watch should vibrate. That'll toggle your bluetooth.

Push the bottom right button 4 times (BT toggle, msg notify, not sure?, pairing mode) and then the top right button to go into pairing mode.
    2
The inPulse battery life is usually 24-48 hours. Most of the OpenWatch notifications work but some features are limited (because of the lack of buttons/SDK) like music control or silent/reject phone call feature. Another limitation is non-functionality with most HTC and Samsung devices.
However Allerta is working on their own 1st party app.
    1
Great App! Was happy to know that I wouldn't lose the BT watch when I switched from WinMo to Android. Thanks!

I also wondered if there was any way to force the 12 hr clock in the android version.
