Hi guys,

I bought the extended 3rd party 1800mAh battery for Diamond and as discussed many times here in the forum, the GPS was unusable with it.
But after some research I found the solution to our problem:

Its in russian, but you can see at least the pictures:

This is a piece of cooking aluminum foil fixed with scotch tape right of the camera lenses.
I just tried it and the result is amazing - GPS works as with the original slim battery. I think the foil works as a shield of the battery and helps receiving GPS signal.

Very cool.. anyone else tried this various branded batteries?

I have the official HTC 1340mAh battery and GPS works fine without anything... but would be interested in a longer battery if this actually works for others.

Thanks!

I can confirm this, I recently got my new battery BP E270.
GPS works

Well that because the BPE270 is an official htc battery the gps would work fine. This fix is for people who have opted to use non htc extended batteries like the mugen batteries which have had confirmed problems with gps. My BP E270 works great without the foil, but my 1000mah mugen battery requires the foil. I have noted that the foil gets me a quicker gps lock with my other batteries as well.

Is the piece of foil stuck down between the battery and phone or is it just a piece of foil on top of the area above the battery?

Wow that great :eek:
I just put in the massive Cameron Sino (RoHS) 2400ma battery, and as expected without the foil couldn't get any Sat’s but after putting this postage stamp size piece of foil on it can get them ok.

I’m now wondering if I could improve reception even further if I put even more foil in perhaps either side of the cameras iris, or all around the battery except near the contacts ?:confused:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Answer to my own question :- I removed the previously suggested postage stamp sized foil and just put foil around the battery allowing it to come into contact with the metal plate that is beneath the battery compartment. Doing this it did not find any Satellites, so no improvement is likely, I will revert to just putting foil in as suggested on the 1st message i cant beat it.
i use 1850MHZ replacement battery. The manufacturer has already consider this. looks the same as this solution. GPS works fine and the phone looks like a touch pro :D
Anyone got the pictures - coz I can't get them from the link.
