I did some more research and I think I can flash a recovery or rom because i would just need to find a bootloader. Or if i could flash back to stock recovery that would be fine. Is it possible to get kitkat 4.4.2 right now. I know the GT version of gs4 can.

what rom version are you on right now?

because you took the 4.3 OTA you CONNOT DOWNGRADE THE BOOTLOADER, the rom, or any part of the phone. your BOOTLOADER is also LOCKED and will forever be. all you can do on 4.3 is root. i would stop trying to look for a custom recovery becuase all your going to do is end up hard/soft bricking your phone. (sorry if i came off a bit mean)

Ummm, probably ask your question in the Sprint S3 forums. This is the forum for the Verizon S3.

The last version of Android available via sam mobile was 4.4.2 if your installing anything later than that like lollipop it won't flash via odin. Like I said on the VZW S3 4.4.2 kk was the last version. It was never updated beyond that. Here's a screen shot from sam mobile

Just wondering if you have an S3 (SCH-I535) or an S4 (SCH-I545)?

I asked this because you stated that you have an S4 and you posted your issue on the S3 area of the forum.

I don't have this specific device myself and i'm not sure if you realize that you posted within the Galaxy S3 area of the forum but, I'll try to help (in General).

This specific Odin Fails can typically be caused by one or more of the following....

1) The firmware is older than that on your phone and the devices bootloader is not authorizing the flash from Odin. Use a firmware version that is the same or newer.

2) The Odin version may not be able to communicate with your device well. Try different versions of Odin.

3) Your USB Cable may not be working very well. The USB Cable may be loosing it's data connection between Odin and the Device. Try another Cable (or other Cables).

4) The assigned USB Port being used may be getting interrupted. Try Other/Different USB Ports.

5) Your Samsung USB Driver Software may require an Update.
... I'm not stating that it's all of the above but, it's likely one OR more of the above.

Good Luck! :)

I finally figured out what was wrong after some more research! My specific phone the Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III (SCH-I535), has had some kind of specific restriction that prevents me from flashing certain ROMs or things like that. Upon research I found a ROM that was semi stock, but also included Superuser and I flashed it and everything went perfectly! I learned a lot through all the research and through trial and error though which is great. My phone seems to be working great except for the fact that the internet connection is really weak or just slow, not really sure what happened. Do you have any tips on how to fix this problem? Also any app recommendations? Thanks! :D

Try an earlier radio? Some people say the Newest radios just do not cut it for them.

I installed just a recovery so far and it does not work. I haven't unlocked bootloader i dont know how but my gs4 is rooted

What version do you have?4.1.2? On Jelly Bean, you need to unlock bootloader first before you flash custom rom or recovery.

Wait a minute , I think we went off track. So your phone is working fine with 4.3 and you just want to root the phone? If you just want to root the phone then try this here http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2565758
THAT'S IS ALL YOU CAN DO WITH 4.3. You CAN'T DO ANYTHING ELSE and don't even try safestrap....
