I'm running a rooted kindle fire HD (2013) on 11.3.1 and would like to install twrp but I am unable to get it in FB mode and if I can avoid it id like to do it without a factory cable. Suggestions?

It's not even remotely possible at the moment to flash TWRP to the 2013 KFHD yet.

You can't just flashed things on a tablet. The bootloader is locked and no second bootloader mod is available. Second is TWRP images have to be slightly modified to use on any Kindle in the first place.

If your asking what I think your asking it's an exploit, the cpu on the kindle is a high security model that checks for a signature on the boot loader, if it isn't signed the kindle won't turn on. We found a way to exploit something amazon missed a while back for the other's and that allowed us to use 2nd boot loader, unfortunately for the newer kindles they were released after that had been patched so we don't have an older version of the boot loader that's compatible with your device that can be exploited. *sarcastically high fives amazon*

I recall flashing the custom boot loader at line 1049 (or something to that affect) in the memory, but what was it that made that possible?
Edit* looking back at the kftt process, I see a stack override was used. I understand that the file was pushed to the sd card, but what did it actually do?
