Working fine on my Nexus 7 on 4.3.
I did a search but nothing comes up, is there a way to get unread count badges on the icon?

Works on the latest 4.3 upgrade "Y", same method, just copy to /system/app.

Hi Guys,

This is my first post so please be gentle with me :cyclops:

My Device: Nexus 7 3G ( Tilapia )
ROM: ParanoidAndroid 3.99 for Tilapia
Network: BSNL India South
Data Enabled: Yes
Previously worked with Go SMS Premium fine. Was able to send and receive texts.

Yes, my SIM plan does support SMS + Data.

Steps Done:

Tried both manual installation by moving the apk to /system/app and TWRP flashing the zip.
Permissions set to rw-r-r 644 ownership: root:root using Root Explorer

Issue: Message not sent

Need help from you guys :cowboy:

i am having the same problem. Im on PA 3.67. Receiving SMS is okay but couldn't send it out  Can anyone help ?

mms.apk would not load to my nexus 7

I trie the solution below on my Nexus 7 purchased in January 2014 (Android 4.4.2)
However when I attempted to copy the unzipped MMS.apk file I got the message "/system/aap is read only".
The file would not copy to this location.
I tried a couple of different root managers I downloaded from Google play, all with the same result.

Also when I tried to access the permissions none of the root manager apps had any success, even though they advertided that they could do this.

Can anyone suggest a solution
P.S. I am not a developer so I need a fairly low tech explanation.
Even better would be an app that did the whole exercise for us non - technical users.
-- Downloads the software, loads it to the correct location, sets the permissions, rebootsand gives a allows us to set the default SMS app.

Download file
Unzip
Load "mms.apk" into system/app and set permissions
Reboot

Thanks to theos0o.

In order to use this mod, you must be rooted. This is why you are unable to modify anything in the root folder.

Thx a lot... pushed and installed with success

    For the noob like me...

Root your N7 using the Nexus 7 Toolkit (not too far from here)
Copy the Mms.apk to your sdcard folder
Then using the Root Browser Lit (playstore), copy Mms.apk to system/app
    Set the permissions:
    • Set apk file permissions to rw-r--r-- (644)
    • Set apk file ownership to root:root.

REBOOT and you will see your new app :p

thanks kRt_uK! works on my n7! i just get double notifications, but hey at least i can use the device to send & receive sms!

About the double notification: if u go to settings > apps > all > "simple message receiver" and deactivate notifications, u will get only 1 notification when receiving a SMS/MMS. Dont know if this affects other apps, but i did not get any errors untill now.

Anybody got the file? The link has 404d

    Here you go

Edit the existing entry and hit the back button when done. If you tap outside of the APN entry borders your changes will be lost.
