Flashed your kernel, ICS and "Tardis" successfully. But just as you said, Wifi won't work on my Arc S.

Also, there are numerous other "hickups", so still I won't recommend anyone to use this this alpha build on a daily basis. But I see huge potential for future releases!

Thank you DooMLoRD for all your efforts!

Okay, I've spent about 25 minutes playing with everything in the ROM and I've found a few stability and usability issues. Here are my first impression.

Widgets dont work on ICS launcher. This is very disappointing but I can live without for a few weeks until CM 9.0 is ready.

There are duplicate apps. Gallery, Calendar, Camera, Clock (Alarm). The SE versions are like the old ones and I removed Google's camera and gallery as I think SE's are better. The Google camera and alarm function doesnt work and force closed.

The ROM seems quite fast and I will make some observations about battery life as time goes by.

Wifi does not seem to work. The 3G symbol on the status bar overlaps the signal icon. Also not themed blue.

I want to have the default ICS lockscreen. Anybody know where to find this?

Thanks to DooM (many Thank button presses) for putting this all together and SE for releasing this alpha ROM. I think this is great strategy for SE to let the development community find bugs and potential issues, as well as implementing some of the software.

Very good first taste of ICS and lots of new features. Worth trying and probably good for daily uses. The SE layer ontop of ICS need some work to make full use of all the new enhancements in ICS. Keep up the good work SE and DooM!

How many modifications did you make to this Rom cause I already read about this release and it's basically unless .

i only posted a easy to flash update.zip (which is prerooted)... and some addon packages which can activate wifi/bt/GSM/WCDMA (including data), Google Apps, kernel with integrated recovery... and am working on adding few more things...

How many modifications did you make to this Rom cause I already read about this release and it's basically useless as is.

I strongly disagree. If you only need 3G/GSM to access the internet this ROM is sufficient for daily use. I would say aside from Google Wallet, 95% of the ICS functions and features are there and working.

I think the widgets arent working because there are files outside of launcher.apk that are needed.

After some cleaning with Titanium Backup, this ROM feels very fresh and smooth. Highly usable. I'm not an avid user of BT or Wifi so the implementation of these radios are not of concern to me. This ROM will continually be tweaked by the experienced devs here, perhaps more effectively and efficiently than SE. Until CM 9.0 comes around, I would argue this is the absolute best ROM to use.

---

Before I move into the second rounds of observations, my phone just had a "Android is upgrading" screen with 19 items installed/optimized after a sudden reboot. I will play with the phone a bit more to see what has happened, and maybe some system files were indeed updated to fix some of the issues. Anyone else had this?

all ROMs are basically useless... custom as well as official...

the users are never satisfied no matter how much u give them, get things to work... there is always the constant cribbing by users... i have seen this across so many forums (x10, ARC, PLAY, Ideos X6, SGS-SL, KF, etc)... everyone has their own priorities for wht they consider to be "working/usable/useful"... its really difficult to cater to everyones needs...

that is the reason i never wanted/intended to get involved in ROM related work...
