oh thanks, I don't need such titles actually....

Sent from my supercharged :tank:

I know, and you don't have to carry the sig bar, it's more of a way of showing recognition than anything

Well for starters you could stop opening threads
The thing is it looks like you've restored the messaging app from your nandroid to your current rom. I don't think they are compatable, you'll have to dig around in your current rom zip for the original app and replace it, alternatively you could just clear cach and dalvic and reflash seeing as you only did it an hour or so ago. With regards your messages, titanium can back up your messages and restore them to whatever rom your using. Rather than restore the app itself, try just restoring the just the data. It's a powerful app but just needs a bit of care what you do with it. Not all system things should be restored.

:D
erm..its night over here and am lazy..sorry:p

next replies in the orig thread.. FYI: I did restored only "data" from nandroid backup. (chose data only from AppExtractor's menu) <- this was prev. Titanium backup app (my bad..typo :D)

Yeah, I also tried that with no success.. I will update my R4 to R6.1 tonight, maybe this will work! But thanks for your help :)

Gesendet von meinem Desire S mit Tapatalk 2

Spoken to BnD, he had said there is no such issue on R.6 he has tested various formats all working. If the problem persists then grab a logcat and i will send it to him to have a look

Thanks for your kindness, still hoping to get my 10th post so that I can post something to his thread
I installed the R6.1 following this instructions but he keeps rebooting into recovery every time :(

Did you follow the instructions exactly, ie flash boot.img

So you press reboot in the recovery and the phone boots back in the recovery?
No bootloop or anything like that?
Edit: the ROM first

What's the md5sum?
Tried it again, just getting rebooted into recovery, when installing the R4.0 it all works fine

This rebooting in the recovery is confusing me to be honest....
Download the ROM again, the zip might be broken (bad download). Check the md5sum to make sure it is ok . Google it if you don't know how to do that.
Going to the gym now, good luck :)

Are there any differences between Andromadus CM10.1 and JellyTime CM10.1? Apart from the former being built from source, of course.

Nobody seemed keen on responding when I asked this in the rom thread.

@jugg1es,
Are you still getting your mad battery behavior?

Yes, sometimes it takes hours to charge and last no time at all and sometimes it takes the average 2 1/2 and lasts ages, I've been on viper all this time though. Thinking of going back to CM10.1 build 12 to see what happens, just haven't had time

    Welcome to the Help Thread

Let's start with the how to "Help us Help you"

    1. Before posting a question always use the search bar/google, chances are your problem has been asked and answered before. It is also much quicker than waiting for someone's reply.

    2. So you can't find a solution after google-ing for hours. Post your questions with the following information 2a, 2b and 2c
2a. Include the following information in your question(s),

    Bootloader status: revolution s-off / unlock s-on/etc
    Hboot version : 2.00.0002 / 0.98.00000 / etc
    Radio/Baseband : 20.71.30.0833U_3831.17.00.16_M
Rom : stock(ics or gb) or custom(specify the rom)
Screen panel : Sony or Mddi

    xbmpfm.jpg

The above info can be found in the bootloader
Holding the 'volume button down' button and turn on your device will cause the device to boot into the bootloader instead of starting normally(fast boot must be disabled).
Or running adb(debugging mode must be enable)
    Code:
    adb reboot bootloader

2b. Get a logcat at the time of event the issue occur.

    How to get a logcat.

    Link
eg : my adb is located in C:\android-tools
    Open cmd and type in
    Code:
    cd C:\android-tools
    next to get a logcat
    Code:
    adb logcat >xxxx.txt
    or
    Code:
    adb logcat -v long >xxxx.txt

The logcat would appear in C:\android-tools as a .txt file. It might differ for you.

2c. Explain your problem in steps leading to the issue. It helps to identify the cause of it.
Info such as "How did it occur, was it during a call or when opening a game". Other users with the exact rom could try to reproduce the issue and help you with it.

    Here's an example
    Bootloader status: revolution s-off
    Hboot version : 7.00.1002
    Radio/Baseband : 20.71.30.0833U_3831.17.00.16_M
    Rom : Miui
    Screen panel : Sony

What were you doing when it occur. What did you do prior to the issue. Did you install/remove any app/system app/build.prop/etc. Can you reproduce the issue and is it the same or different each time.

    Method for flashing ROM

    Bootloader: Revolutionary S-off

    Steps
    1. Make nandroid backup(optional but highly recommended)
    2. Full wipe(except sd)
    3. a - Flash rom
      b - Flash gapps/mods(optional if any)
    4. Reboot

*Certain type of rom require a reboot before flashing gapps or any mods. It is good practice to read the OP(first few pages by the dev) to know.
Better spending a few minutes reading than re-flash.

    Bootloader: HTCDev Unlock S-on
    Steps
    1. Make nandroid backup(optional but highly recommended)
    2. Full wipe(except sd)
    3. a - Flash rom
      b - Flash gapps/mods(optional if any)
    4. Reboot into fastboot and flash boot.img
      Code:
      fastboot flash boot boot.img
    5. Reboot

*Boot.img also known as kernel can be found inside the rom xxxx.zip. The additional step of step 4 is necessary with each flash and also apply when restoring back up.
So therefore make it a habit whenever flashing.

**A detailed step can be found in a guide here step 4.

    Confuse about flash / bootloader / unlock / s-off / goldcard?

First let’s get some things across

    Flash

to write data to non-volatile memory. There is some inherent risk here. Any interruption to a flash write can leave the device in an unusable or less usable state. "ROMs" are typically "flashed."

    Bootloader

-The first thing to load once you turn on the device, this does the job of booting up the device hardware and loading various items into memory before the ROM starts in the device. The bootloader is also responsible for enabling the flashing of new ROMs and other components such as the Radio
-Holding the 'volume button down' button and turn on your device will cause the device to boot into the bootloader(fast boot must be disabled)
*Note that certain roms will not be able to boot with hboot 6.98.1002/0.98.00000

-Our device generally does not allow us to flash a custom rom over the stock rom.
-In order to flash we would need to first obtain unlocked bootloader through htcdev or s-off using revolutionary.
-you should know that an unlocked bootloader and S-off do not necessary depend on each other.
*This applies for those who did not flash ICS(4.0) Ruu on their device and maintain GB(2.3.5) version.
**Those that are running on stock ICS would have to unlock their bootloader first before achieving S-off

    Unlock bootloader

-This method will give your device permission to flash any custom rom.
-The bootloader can be unlock for free at htcdev.com for free. There is a step by step guide which will help you through
-How to root, install EXT4 recovery and custom ROM on HBOOT 2.00.0002
*Note carefully the method of flashing custom rom(Can be found above)

    S-off

-This method will give your device permission to flash any custom rom.
-S-OFF means you have complete control of the phone. Security off. Do whatever you want from whatever mode you want.
-An S-OFF phone has no restrictions on what you write. So you could change the bootloader and radio.
    * Those that are running on stock ICS would have to unlock their bootloader first before achieving S-off

    Goldcard

-Every phone has an ID(CID) that says which network it's on for branded phones.
-So if you use an update designed for unbranded phones on a branded phone you'll get a CID error.
-A goldcard basically overrides this check, so you can install any branded/unbranded ROM
    --------------------------------------------------------------------

    HELP!!!

    RUU
    RUU- otherwise known as:
    <Rom Update Utility>,
is an official upgrade package released by HTC,
    including complete:
system, data, boot, recovery, bootloader and radio
    images,
packed in a self executable file
    for windows installer.

    To apply, we need:
    - PC
    - ADB and FASTBOOT drivers installed,
    recognising the phone in its:
    < fastboot usb > mode
    - stock usb cable
( the one you charge your phone with)
    - Phone- that is in fastboot mode,
wired to pc with the above mentioned cable, ....
    Issues with flashing RUUs
    a) Error 155
    -Bootloader needs to be 'Relock'
    Code:
    fastboot oem lock
-Your bootloader status should now show 'Relock' instead of 'Unlock'

    b) Low battery error
-Device`s battery current it too low to proceed
-Recharge your battery and repeat the procedure

    c) Error 131 ( 132 )
-The RUU version you're trying to flash does not match your device`s
    1. CID
    2. Software number

    d) What is CID(Carrier IDentification)?
-Describes which region your device is operating in and specific carrier(your device has been locked to)
-How can I find my CID number?
    Fastboot
    Code:
    fastboot getvar cid
    - Opening your system`s <build.prop> file and searching for the line:
-Works with sense rom(not found in miui)
-In order to do this you would need a file explorer and root access.
-The line you would be looking for should have 'maincid'
    ro.aa.maincid=HTC_001

    just an example...
Mainver and/or CID numbers may differ, depending on above mentioned factors and android software version...
-How to recognize whether a device's CiD is generic or carrier branded ?
-Generic CID usual have < HTC_ > prefix
and following number< _405 > that describes region

    example:
    HTC__001,
    HTC__E11, HTC__N34,HTC__203, HTC__102,
    HTC__K18, HTC__405,HTC__Y13, HTC__A07,
    HTC__304, HTC__016,HTC__032.

-Branded CID usual have operator`s prefix, following by region number

    example:
    h3g_001
    02_001
    ORANG202
    TELENZ001
    BSTAR301
    etc

    e) How can I recognise whether specific RUU version is intended for my region?
    - On your device, navigate to
Settings / About Phone / Software Information / Software Number...
    - Check third group of numbers which describes for the version.

    Example: 1.28.401.1, 1.47.401.4, 2.10.401.4, 2.10.401.5, 2.10.401.8

401 - version for Europe- clean, unbranded
    720 - India
    707 - Asia
    111 - T-Mobile version
    206 - O2 UK version ...

    f) Wish to return to Gingerbread(2.3.5) from ICS(4.0)
    - In a normal conditions, you cannot flash lower RUU version on top of the higher
    - in order to achive it nonetheless, you should obtain:
    - temp root privileges( < zerg rush > - doesn`t work on ICS) and...
-use < misc_version > , which modifies software version number on the device.
    Custom ROM
    It is a package in a form of a < .zip >
file, prepeared to be applied via
    custom recovery ( CWM, 4EXT, TWRP,etc )
    containing:
    - system
    - data
    - boot.img
    - META-INF
    - sometimes- depending on the rom structure,
and needed functionality, also other folders like:
    - temp
    - addons
    - etc
    Issues with flashing custom roms
After flashing a new rom, you got stuck at HTC logo screen / black screen / rebooted into recovery
    Bootloader: Revolutionary S-off
    1. Did you make a clean wipe
    2. Check the rom.zip md5(probably a bad download)
    3. Check what type of panel do you have(Sony or Mddi)
*Note that Mddi panels will not boot with certain rom without a special mod kernel. Read about it more.
    4. Is your hboot compatible
*Note that certain roms will not be able to boot with hboot 6.98.1002/0.98.00000

    Bootloader: Unlock S-on
    1. Did you flash boot.img
    2. Did you make a clean wipe

    INDEX

Hello all :) great thread (btw).

Sorry for letting the INDEX slip behind. It’s now been dragged up to date, although only the version of several existing ROMs needed incrementing; there was only a single new ROM entry was required.

As @Juggles wrote above and is mentioned in the pre-ample of the INDEX itself “2. Post only positive suggestions, amendments or point out mistakes” - it can only ever be as good as the information that you provide me with, so if you notice it falls behind then let me know – shout or PM me, whilst I don’t spend too much time in DS forum these days, I always monitor the DS OT/SANCTUARY and INDEX threads as they’re both down as Subscribed threads in xda so I’ll spot new posts.

No offense intended to anyone that’s kindly offered to take over the maintenance, but I’d prefer to do so to user who has been around for a decent length of time, has a large number of posts and is likely to stay as well as being well known to both me and the DS community.

In reality the DS is now quite an old device now and ROM updates and additions come far less frequently so the work needed is minimal compared to when the INDEX was created amazingly over a year and a half ago now. I’m a little torn as ultimately the INDEX could probably do with a complete re-vamp, a new look new and probably some new blood a new owner would do that – but question is it is worth it? I reckon it comes down to if the people here think I’m slacking too much, in which case just let me know, don’t fear I won’t take in personally and I’ll happily step aside.

As I’ve explained to others I’ll probably pass over the INDEX maintenance at some point in the next couple of months anyway as I’ve my first baby on its way 10weeks from now (or at least my wife does), so I have a natural deadline, at which point I’d probably like to hand over control – although whether the INDEX will need much maintaining at the point is another question.

Cheers and please don’t take offense if you’ve offered….I also quite like the task as it means that I get a chance to put something back for the community’s benefit!

There are a lot of people joining xda on daily basis, and there are a lot of repetitive questions being asked which fill up Development threads. Point them here. Feel free to ask or answer questions. Idea of this thread is to get users to help other users with their problems/questions. Please do not spoon feed, but rather point in the direction where that user can find an answer and educate himself

First thing first. I strongly advise you to read THIS thread before posting ANYTHING on XDA.

Secondly can i ask you to read THIS thread before posting any questions here.

Then, have a quick look at the names of threads in post no2, you might find what you need right away.

Fourth. Even if you do get your question answered, please, do come back and read threads in post no2 to educate yourself. You'll be surprised how much time and frustration it will save you in the future.

No abuse towards noobs/newbies tolerated here! No question is stupid in this thread. No flaming please
