Questions on becoming a developer

Hello everybody I've post ed on the forum here and there for a couple years , but I plan on being a lot more active in the days to come .I was wondering if I could get any advice on how to go about becoming a software developer , where to start where to look what books are Great . Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

A software developer in what field? For example Android requires c(core) and Java(apps). Which you can learn from www.w3schools.com.
