can someone pls explain how to flash the img file to an s-off Legend for a dummy like me?

where do I put the img file?

why with "adb push cwm-recovery-3028.img /sdcard" I get this - "cannot stat 'cwm-recovery-3028.img': No such file or directory"?

any help would be appreciated...

Edit: Solved - just flashed through ROM Manager and it works.

Hi,

I have unlocked the bootloader using HTC Dev site and it is unlocked.

Then I have got a permanent root using HTC Super Tool v3 and I have root access.

S-ON. So when I downloaded the zip file, copied it to root of the sdcard with the name of "update.zip" and then followed the procedure for S-ON, I get the error when I try to "Apply sdcard:update.zip"

Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.

Please advice. Thanks :)

If your bootloader is unlocked even though it says s-on you should be able to use the s-off recovery.

I eventualy flashed this successfully from android terminal once I realised I need to release ram in order to flash, kept getting out of memory error.

No need for fastboot. :D

flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img

Looking good thanks!
sent from my legend, currently using extream legend fuse™

Wait, so when doing the S-ON, is CWM just launched or actually installed and accessible at any moment?

You need to keep the update.zip on your sd card if you have s-on and the bootloader is locked.

If your bootloader is unlocked even though it says s-on you should be able to use the s-off recovery.

Thanks whpsnp. That worked just fine using the first part of S-OFF method.

u may need the flash-image file,

i have attached the flash-image file in the zip folder
exact it and save it in ur sdcard,
then try using the S-OFF method again

    good luck :)

I have no doubt it works, just not for me.

When I put the device in fastboot, and connect via USB, I get the no device found error. When I try using the S-OFF method I get No image found.
I'm updating Android SDK and see if that helps. I wonder if Win7 64 bit has anything to do with it.
