So I finally got the watch setup for what I originally purchased it for... WarDriving and Wifi Penetration!

Below are the apps I am using and why.

Now as I drive around throughout the day doing service calls, all the Wifi Access Points I come across are logged. I get back home, upload to Wigle account, export to KML for Google Maps and I have a list of every Access Point I passed for the day.

All work well and do what I expect from them. If anyone else has any more suggestions, please let me know.

I am interested in your wardriving abillities and would like to join your cult! I will start asking noob questions when i get home

The MotoACTV apk is extremely limited if you don't own a motorola phone. I have an Evo 4G and also have the notifications, but phone calls and calendar events don't work. I believe this is only for Motorola phones.

The MotoACTV software is kinda worthless to me, doesn't work with Google Voice, Market Updates, etc.

plug yer headset in, LOL! it wont receive calls w/o the headset (or a paired bluetooth headset).;)

Motoactv as a watch

Hi all,

Thank you so much for the great advances in hacking this little beauty. As I wear it as a watch all day, I needed a proper clock. I have tried quite a few widgets, but none of them fit 100% to the motoactv resolution.

So I did what a true nerd does. I made one.
I work as a webdesigner, so I am not the greatest app developer - but I know html/css. So I created one using the canvas element, and made a bundle using phonegap.

This is a very early alpha. All it does is showing an analogue clock. But I hope to add selectable backgrounds, date and other useful stuff.

One question I have though - my wifi seems to be crappy on large files. When I use spotify, i can only sync a file or two before it goes slow and spotify toggles between online/offline. I have the same behavior using box.net. When I used reverse teathering, i got to sync a couple of files this morning. Has anyone experienced the same? It would be handy to be able to sync larger files without a cable. (I´ve used the bat scripts, have two launchers (tried both) - factory reset and the whole deal to no help.)

And another tip. To use audible, use dpi changer to log in - after that, the application works at normal dpi.

(I have NO idea if my signing of the APK is ok. It works on my watch, but please tell if I´ve done something odd)

-- Edit --

Removed APK, as I had compiled it with all kinds of crazy permissions from standard phonegap. New APK uploaded in later post :)

I have had issues with my wifi at home and i think it might have to do with the type of security you router has but thats probably me talking out my ass lol. When i hook my Actv to my phones wifi tether i have no problems at all

Edit: btw great little app i cant wait to use it and cant wait to see more designs come up !

actvClock v.1.1

..and I made some tweaks.

- No toolbar
- Now with date
- .. and no more insane permissions. I had just ticked off standard phonegap, so the application wanted all sorts of insane permissions :)

I hope this works better.

@Jay4255

I used your batch file "clean" my /system/app and didn't realize that it removes the Motorola Launcher. :( Is there anyway to get it back? Thanks!

Any possibility of a digital version? That would be a great help.

I had a Motorola Wireless Bluetooth Headset connected. Tried calling from my home phone to my Google Voice number, and my cell phone number, neither of which worked.

maybe it's the BT; Plug in and see if it works with a wired headset. On a similar note: I did a reset and reloaded the watch. The second time the text notifications stopped commin thru...which sucks as I receive way more texts than I do calls.

---------- Post added at 02:05 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:58 AM ----------

how did you get it to work on the evo 3d mines can receive text notifications but cant get the incoming or missed calls

---------- Post added at 04:55 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:48 PM ----------

i can receive the calls but there is no caller id it says unknown caller when i have the earphones on

From what I can tell, it's finicky. My first load I could get text and call notifications. I wiped it and reloaded only to find I could only get call notifications. As it has been said: Wire a headset in to get calls.

I messed up one of the adb commands and now I'm bootlooping. Can anyone help me get an original userdata.img? I already have my system.img.

You don't REALLY need the userdata.img, but it's nice to have. If you're bootlooping, follow these steps.

Put the watch in fastboot mode
Restore system with "fastboot flash system system.img"
Wipe Userdata and Cache "fastboot -w"
Restart "fastboot reboot"

It'll take awhile for the watch to start since it has to setup Userdata and Cache partitions, but it should get you fixed. If you need any more help, hop on the IRC webchat.freenode.net #motoactv

Power off while plugged into a wall socket and let it sit for an hour. Power up and re-launch fastboot. Your can reflash the system image/user data.

But see thats my problem when I plug it in to a wall charger the system turns on automatically and stays at the red moto icon and the charging light wont shine while it is trying to boot like that. I cant even turn off the device or put it into fastboot while its trying to boot from the wall charger. I defiantly know this is NOT a hardware problem but I think I might of bricked my system with software because it seems like there is no way of solving this, help! :(

    CWMR ported

    Hello,

I have ported CWMR 5.0.2.7 to the Motoactv (F100) device.

    actvcmwr.png

    Code:
    #include <std_disclaimer.h>
    /*
    * Your warranty is now void.
    *
    * I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
    * thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
    * do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
    * before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
    * you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
    */

The procedure for this is as follows. You MUST have working adb knowledge to use this and you must be able to restore using the available tool should any problems arise. This is considered an ALPHA release that may need additional work. I did not have access to the device during the port so all testing was done through TheEndGame7. THERE MAY BE ISSUES, you are warned.

    1) Download this file: CWMR5x_F100_recoveryA.img
    2) adb push CWMR5x_F100_recoveryA.img /data/local/
    3) adb shell (become root)
    4) dd if=/data/local/CWMR5x_F100_recoveryA.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk1p13
    5) exit adb from the device
    6) adb reboot recovery (you should be in CWMR now)

The source for the device config is here. Please feel free to go wild with development on this because I do not have the device and likely won't be contributing much more except bug fixes. If you use this source, please give credit where it's due.

NOTE: there are missing images(known). This is because the ramdisk is EXTREMELY finicky on this device and it WILL NOT BOOT past 3.66mb in size. I trimmed out things that weren't needed in order to make this work. The basic functionality you need should be there. adb is also not functioning properly yet within recovery.

    MotoACTV Easy Modder v0.1

    Post removed, see below.

Well, it was a *****, but here is build 2, moving to Beta at this point in 'Moto red' by request of TEG.

There is 1 lingering issue: usb support in recovery. It is a bastard, going to really have to tear this thing apart to debug why. Right now, recovery can backup, restore, wipe, flash roms, etc. All the stuff you're used to working, now does. I fixed images by shrinking the kernel to fit more stuff in here. You should no longer get any weird image errors. I bumped you up to 5.0.2.8 source as well.

Flash this file the same as before via adb and dd.
    CWMR5x_F100_recoveryB.img

    adb push CWMR5x_F100_recoveryB.img /data/local/
    adb shell
    # dd if=/data/local/CWMR5x_F100_recoveryB.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk1p13
    # exit
    adb reboot recovery

Some additional notes I'd like to share that might help you as you mess with this device now that I've played with one.

    1) NEVER use adb reboot bootloader for any reason. You get stuck in a ****tily programmed loop of hell. The way out of this loop is by following these instructions:

    a) hold START, POWER, VOL UP, VOL DOWN together for 10 seconds at least. You should see the screen flicker on and off twice.
    b) plug in the USB cable to turn device on
    c) you should boot back to rom, if not, do it again. It's touchy.

    2) The 'soft' reset is done by START + POWER for 5 seconds.

Enjoy. Source is updated. This will likely be the last update unless I get adb working.

Attached is the latest copy of my MotoACTV Easy Modder v1.0. This is a MAJOR upgrade! Adds numerous features and completely revises how backups are stored on the computer. Need to use 7zip to extract it, wouldn't let me upload that big of a .zip file.

To make this version see your old backups, open your IMGs folder, make a new folder (no spaces), drag all your old .img files into it.

    ChangeLog:

    - Redesigned GUI
    - Integrated SuperOneClick (Very basic at the moment)
