I think that's it for now. I got over the whole "to root or not to root" just a month ago, and now am ready to dive into the deep end.

Thanks!

1. yes
2. n/a

all you need is framework-res.apk and SystemUI.apk from your roms zip.
as you have deodexed rom - you will be ok.

Basically, i want the statusbar (icons, time, etc) but without the black background it has. Or isnt this possible?

when u use transparent statusbar, sometimes other programs use that space to hide some things, so you not allways get wallpaper there.

to check if its working - try with semi-transparent bright color background first. This way you can see where is transparent statusbar and where - others programs images.

so is your battery changed and showing only each 20%?
maybe this problem is device related?

Battery Status Shows Fine using the appropriate icons. But when the phone is charging only the first 5 icons are displayed and then it resets. I think an edit to an xml (framework\framework-res\res\drawable\stat_sys_battery.xml) or something there abouts is required.

Alright, made a couple of screenshots.

This is how it looks normally.

As you can see, it is transparent.

Market

Lockscreen

With live wallpapers it works, note the lights shooting through the statusbar.

After a force close of a live wallpaper, i got the following. This is exactley what i'm looking for! Went away as soon as i pressed home again

Another live wallpaper, more clear this time.

wow, quite a mess in your framework-res.apk.
no wonder its not working for you.
here - take this UOT-03-15-00-00-1
this is corrected file with your cooked options, so use file from this zip for later use in kitchen.

seems like in GB there is not one image for statusbar. It needs to investigate and experiment to work it out.
Can't prommise anything, because I'm with sense rom, but I will look into it.

if someone is allready figured out which images are for statusbar (and in which apk) in GB roms - I'll be very thankfull.

@mendozinas: Lunatic2's issue is not Gingerbread-specific - I only have Froyo on my Defy and statusbar transparency only works when used with Live Wallpapers.
Not to mention, transparency for the rest of the notification area doesn't work, full stop.
