Can't trust that website for pre order prices at all, it's most likely as complete guess by them.

So it is almost confirmed that HTC will start selling the One S here in Germany on April 2nd. As that device is also powered by Snapdragon S4 - which has been rumored to be delayed due to fabrication problems - I really hope Asus will provide us with some substancial information real soon(tm).

The silence is really quite enerving, every day you can find "Padfone news" that is all still based purely on the MWC. Come on, Asus! Give us something to talk about! :)

NegriElectronics.com has it up for Pre-Order for $999. I did a Live Chat with them and they were a little vague, but assured me that it would be in stock with them though they could not confirm any release date. Take it for what it's worth....which isn't much. :)

Massive pinch of salt there, given that they're listing the 16, 32 and 64GB flavours at the same price.

My first reaction was jaw hitting the floor, but I'd pay that (in pounds, which is just about £630) if it came with the pad dock (and keyboard dock would be a nice bonus :)), even if it's just the 16GB version. SD slot, man.

Damnit ASUS, just take my money!

Hi,

any news about possible release date and pricing?

Im most interested in price with the contract, where everything is included in the monthly price:)

Any guesses for release date in UK and monthly price?

If you followed the MWC reports (which you probably have, else you wouldn't ask), then you know every hard fact there is. Everything since has been rehashed or plain made up.

It is getting really ****ed up, Asus, do you hear me? If you announce a device for April and then, comes April, did not even provide a single bit of information, that just sucks!

There finally seems to be something going on. Like many devices there are seemingly amateurish Asian YouTube videos coming up.

And if that one is really shot with the Padfone, I am pleased with the quality:

Hopefully it won't take too long now before Asus gives us any update.

EDIT: Another one from Sweden, but you can't see much and the only thing I caught was "April to May". :)

As I saw on the FB-Page from ASUS Taiwan: There will be held a press conference in Taipei tomorrow (2012/04/05).

ASUS will announce the price and the launch date.

I dont need the keyboard but i want the bluetooth pen >.< I hope it will sold separately

err, from google translate if I'm not mistaken, $617 is the phone itself, and the $925 is the bundle of the pad station and the pen
the keyboard got another extra bucks there

I dont know about the TWD to US$ calculation, but without the promotional price from the source Cyman gives,
the padfone itself is roughly $607
Padfone + Tablet + Bluetooth Pen is roughly $910
Padfone + Tablet + Bluetooth Pen + Case with holster for Bluetooth pen is roughly $954
Padfone + Tablet + Bluetooth Pen + Keyboard is roughly $944
Padfone + Tablet + Bluetooth Pen + Case + Keyboard is roughly $978

The calculation is a little different coz I convert it from TWD to IDR and then to USD :D
Personally I think its too expensive >.<

Ok, the prices are finally revealed!

The PadFone with tablet dock costs in Taiwan 617 $.

The bundle with the keyboard dock and the Bluetooht-Pen costs 925 $.

What do you think of that price?

Wait, are those US Dollars?

Because if so, that makes the $925 bundle come out at £582. I'd pay £600 for the phone and both docks, the stylus is a bonus gimmick that I'd probably never even use.

And $517 for the phone and pad dock is only £388... that seems far too cheap to me when you consider the HTC One X is selling for £500 on it's own.

This will be the best month all year if those prices are accurate! :D

Just a quick heads up that i'm in the process of creating one of my 'Superboot' auto-root images for the Padfone 2 (it's already working!), then i'll do a tweaked ROM. I'll be posting them both here and in the new MoDaCo Padfone 2 forum.

    HDMI

i talked to asus sweden on facebook, they told me that microHDMI to TV should not be any problems. They told me that the microHDMI cable is the problem.

Because of the design of the phone the HDMI cable is not getting to the bottom of the microHDMI hole, so hey said i could try to cut away a little of plastic from the microHDMI cable so it get longer into the connector on the padfone.

    can anyone confirm this?

im getting my padfone tonight :D so i'll try it then if i manage to get a microHDMI to HDMI cable.

i dont know hot deep the connector input on the phone is, but im guessing is should be enough to cut away 2-3mm of the plastic around the cable so the connector get the whole way in :p

It's like trying to get to wonderland with only putting the key to the door halfway in.

    Hi,

I just modify a way to root Padfone 4.0.4 without lost data.

You need download 3 firmware file (1 full firmware CHT-PadFone-9.18.8.41_CHT and 2 OTA firmware Firmware 9.18.8.41 to 9.20.1.22(CHT), Firmware 9.20.1.22 to 9.20.2.14(CHT)).

Take it here: http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/Mobile_Phone/PadFone/CHT_PadFoneuser9_18_8_41UpdateLauncher.zip (this file must be extract and copy zip file under ASUS folder)
    AND OTA firmware: http://www.padfoneclub.com/pl/content/content.php?content.15

Copy 3 zip file to a SD Card, put SD Card to your phone.

    Enable setting first:
"Settings > Applications > Unknown Sources"
"Settings > Applications > Development > USB Debugging"
    OR
"Settings > Security > Unknown Sources"
"Settings > Developer Options > USB Debugging"

Go to recovery and install CHT-PadFone-9.18.8.41_CHT then boot, while your phone booting put your phone to pc usb and run RootDebugfs.bat and chose steep Root. When you receive mes "Keep here, install 2 OTA Firmware at recovery. Once 2 OTA Firmware install completed and your devices has finished restarting".

Keep it here and keep usb pc connected padfone. Go to recovery and install 2 OTA (install at one Firmware 9.18.8.41 to 9.20.1.22(CHT) first, then Firmware 9.20.1.22 to 9.20.2.14(CHT), don't need reboot). After install completed, reboot and complete step at root cmd on your PC.

    All done!

If got error on root chmod script, try it by your self: Run CMD, type "adb shell" enter, then type list command bellow:

    su
    mount -o rw,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mmcblk0p21 /system
    chmod 06755 /system/xbin/su
    rm /data/local/tmp
    mv /data/local/tmp.bak /data/local/tmp
    rm /data/local/su
    rm /data/local/debugfs
    rm /data/local/debugfsinput
    exit
    exit
