Regarding the new nightly, (20/04):
It only has 4 very minor changes.

Therefore I don't feel that it is worth the hassle for a ROM update as it'll more or less be equal to V2.7.

Hope you understand. :)

it doesn't force close for me, the only thing i can think of is that default levels cause FC maybe. i think you should try to install 2.6, set custom levels, then install 2.7 and don't wipe data, if it works, report back.

I did a fresh install so dont wanna do that. All i want to know what file i need to mod to change levels screen and key backlights

Changes like "changed Wi-Fi scan from 12.3 seconds to 12.5"? Cause I've seen "fixes" like those.
Where?
update-cm-7-20120420-NIGHTLY-olympus-signed.zip

Set supl_host_set flag in loc_eng_set_server (android_hardware_qcom_gps)
GCC 4.7 now correctly implements the two-phase name lookup rules (android_frameworks_base)
Make PhoneToggler accept the same values as are configurable in the settings. (android_packages_apps_Phone)
telephony: added support for samsungs realcall parameter needed for incall audio (android_frameworks_base)

K so im having a hard time getting the "Neutrino" keyboard to stick.

It keeps reverting back to the stock android keyboard.

I've downloaded the apk, installed it...works a few times...and then next time i go to use it, it's back to the old keyboard.

I've even tried removing it with TTB but TTB just gets stuck.

Any ideas guys?

cheers

EDIT: ok so i've gotten the stock keyboard to uninstall but now i can't install the new one....lol. What now?

ok well here goes nothing.

I download the apk from the changelog in the OP.

I've already explained what happens when it stops working.

I prefer the qhd keyboard over most 3rd party keyboards because they aren't designed for qhd displays.

Now when i try to install the apk it just keeps saying that the application was not installed.

Notorious, can you chime in here bro?

Not in THAT changelog... When I had the HTC Desire (yeah, I relate to those times A LOT - I miss the HTC's, though :( ), I used to look on the CM7-nightlies changelog page everyday. Some days, there would be like 100+ changes, and the day after, 2, like "Changed nothing" and "Added nothing" (you get the point... really useless stuff).

Guy who made the video review for MIUIv4 beta :p ... How about you download the ROM .zip, extract it (on your PC, yes), then go to /system/app and take the keyboard .apk? Then use Root Explorer or ES File Manager (allow root access in the Settings menu, first) to put the file in /system/app... Then reboot :p

You know... there's a reason those batteries are under, say, $10 ;) .

OEM batteries (original ones, such as those from Motorola itself - just pointing that out) are claimed to hold ~95% of the stated capacity, while 3rd party ones (cheap, 10x bigger batteries) hold up to 60% in some cases...

I had my own two experiences with such 3rd party batteries :) . 1900 mAh one couldn't charge my HTC Desire's 1400 mAh battery not even half; 2600 mAh one couldn't charge the same phone not even 60%...

we all have our experiences and i was stating mine. i never claimed that 3rd parties were better, but that the battery life on a phone could be directly related on the ability of your current battery to hold charge, and i was merely suggesting that you could get alternative batteries on ebay which i did that lasted way longer than the original motorola battery did - and only because the motorola battery couldn't hold as much charge as it used to. i didn't conduct any scientific experiment to determine how much the 3rd party battery held, but if it lasted 1.5 days on normal use versus the 6 hrs i was getting with the oem. for 1/2 price of oem, i'm happy :) - to everybody else with money, listen to Formhault.

True. One question/suggestion can u make a zip file to implement your changes on newer nightlies? Of course if it's possible. Thanks dude...

ya, it kept setting back to the default keyboard. Which to be honest, i didn't even know existed because i could only find the one keyboard, i thought only the qhd keyboard was baked into the rom.

Anyways, i finally got TTB to uninstall the "stock" keyboard. I then went ahead and placed the apk in all the appropriate folders. Proceed to install, install's just fine.

I jump into sms, tap on the text and a super quick flash of the "process has stopped working" box pops up. Just wont work, it's installed but doesn't work.

Im confused, lol.

Notorious should just make the keyboard as an app and throw it on the play store....

****, i'll pay money for it, something tells me others would too.

It's just so simplistic and well polished for our devices. I gotta have it!

Also, has any noticed when your in a call, and the screen goes off, your face still end's the call if your cheek or chin presses where the end call button is. Also if the dial pad is enabled during the call and you put it to your face, the screen turns off but my face is still pressing the dial pad and making the sound and everything...really weird. Is this normal? anyone else experience this?

How to install from Windows with moto-fastboot ??

Hi !

My sdcard not work anymore. I want to apply the last update but the only way is to flash with moto-fastboot from windows/linux.

My question is, howto ?
I think I need a .img file but the ROM is a zipped file.

Thanks !

UPDATE: It's ok , I can install from INTERNAL sdcard. But if you known how to install with moto-fastboot, I think it's good to known.

Thanks !

have you tried booting into recovery and then go to mounts and storage. down at the bottom press mount usb mass storage. connect the usb from phone to pc. you should get either internal or external depending. you should be able to then drag and drop the .zip file to the sd card. when done, press the unmount in recovery, go back, look in internal or external sd through recovery and you should see it in one of those and thne just flash as you normally would

I think I completed the procedure you are trying to accomplish while installing 2.7.

After installing 2.7 I have backed up the keyboard with TiBu.
Then I flashed the ThemeChooser which obviously restores the keyboard to default GB one.

After that I uninstalled the keyboard with TiBu and restored the one I backed up again with TiBu. TiBu got stuck while restoring but the keyboard did install and works just fine.

I am a bit confused.. I 've seen posts about some bugs which can only be solved by using faux's kernel... can anybody confirm that? I Like the battery in EE and I dont get that good battery with any faux's kernels.. can any body write down what kind of bugs are in the built in kernel???

you could just make a 2.7.1 minor update that doesn't wipe system and only contains the changed files.
i would do that if i could:D

---------- Post added at 06:44 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:04 PM ----------

where can i find the sources of the EE kernel (so stock cm7 kernel i guess)

---------- Post added at 06:51 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:44 PM ----------

what's up with the tags btw?

---------- Post added at 06:56 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:51 PM ----------

and it has been discussed that software UV doesn't work(even though it made my phone freeze after an excessive amount of voltage change and i had a cm7 kernel like battery life undervolted with system tuner) but does it work if it's done in kernel?

The undervolting does not work to EXTEND battery life, in fact, it does nothing to the battery life, no matter how much you UV. UVing adjusts the voltage levels of the CPU to reduce temperatures and nothing more.

    Please read before downloading

This is an enormously STRIPPED DOWN ROM. Many features YOU need may NOT be available in the base package. If there is any loss of functionality, you'll need to flash an ADDON by clicking the link below.

Before you download, ensure your contacts are saved onto your SD card or memory card. Contact/calender sync is not included natively, you must flash the 'Sync addon.'

This is a CM7 BASED ROM. So anything that doesn't work on CM7 like Webtop will NOT work on this ROM also. Please do not request non-CM7 features.
    Install Instructions:
**Firstly make sure you have the latest RomRacer's recovery!!**
Then choose to wipe using any one of the following two wiping methods:
    For clean wipe:
Moto-fastboot -w, erase system/boot/preinstall, then install from INTERNAL .ZIP!

    For easy wipe:
Go into recovery, and install from INTERNAL .ZIP!
Wiping data may not be necessary with every update, but it's best to flash clean. However, if you regularly flash the updates, you'll most likely need to wipe data at some stage anyway.
**DO NOT WIPE DATA AFTER INSTALLING!!!**
Make sure you flash the 'Lite gapps' in to get the barebone google apps.

Then, after booting, click on script manager, navigate to /system/etc and run NitroCharger.sh as ROOT and at BOOT!
It is also HIGHLY recommended to download the GPS Mod found in #2.
    Then you're done.

Q: Are you going to be working on CM9?
Yep, I'm working on it right now :)

Q: My phone doesn't boot with this ROM - it get's stuck on the dual-core screen :(
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ROMRACER'S RECOVERY!!!! CHANGE IT NOW!

Q: Why is performance settings in CMparts removed?
A lot of options in performance settings will conflict with the tweaks in this ROM. All the options in performance settings have been included in the ROM anyway, but have been optimised for the best settings. So don't worry about it. If you REALLY want to head over to performance settings, then long press on homescreen and select shortcut. Add CMparts>Performance Settings and you will gain access. But seriously, there's really no point.

Q: My phone shows that I have very low free RAM!
Here's a fat explanation on how the RAM works in Android.

Q: My phone can't scan files on my SDcard?
CM7 mounts the SDcard and internal memory opposite to Motorola. To switch back to 'stock style,' navigate to /settings/CMsettings/application > Check 'use internal storage' and reboot.

Q: Does this ROM support landscape mirroring?
    Yep.

Q: How do you get those cool 'ICS style' rings like in the screenshots?
Go to Settings/CMsettings/Lockscreen/Style options/Ring-Lock style and change to 'holo.'

Q: What does the BOOST script do?
It will 'defrag' databases, so make them smaller (faster to read, so apps will open faster) as well as freeing the caches. Do NOT run this script at boot!!!!! It is to be used if your phone starts to feel a big sluggish or laggy, then just run the script with SU and that's it.
