Sounds much better than Poweramp IMO, when it's working. Not really sure what's happening, but tends to kick in at the start of a song, but if I touch the volume button seems to kick out (volume decreases 500%). It is VERY loud sometimes, even with volume at almost zero. Seems to work better with Google Music than Poweramp. Just doesn't act like it's "taking over".
I have enabled this app and tried listening musics in PowerAMP, and I like thumping and strong bass. I disabled the PowerAMP direct audio, but is it me only who thinks enabling this actually decreases audio quality? All I can hear is some unwanted loud sound, which I don't want. Is there any settings to increase the bass?
Disable audio/advanced/direct volume control in PA.
Still odd that "unique II" is much quieter than "normal". I have "Deliver balanced natural ss..." checked, seems to make the digital presets kick in, and not give the volume control issues. I think the PA equalizer still seems to have better control and sound.

I can't get the thing to do anything. It's select in sound effects and none of the effects have any effect at all.
Did you set these options on the main screen?:

i agree, when i first used this mod i was amazed by the bass but now its a little too much and i am missing out on the rest of the music. Unique 3 setting rather than unique 3 seem to to reduce the bass slightly.
Try to disable the Psychoacoustic and use audiophile preset...
If you're on AOSP then its not there... Just uninstall any other DSP before using this...

Well ACID is include the very same apk for their DSP.
And just note this: this apk already included everything we need, so I don't see any need to flash those mods unless it also include Noozy Studio 3 apk which is far superior in term of sound quality than Poweramp/Walkman...
Unless you wanna bloat your phone with useless libraries and files you don't need to flash/install any sound mods than this one... Its useless..
You can try and compare the sound quality and feel it yourself...
I've conducted some test using any other sound mods and yet this one is much more hassle-free (no need of flashing, no bootloop included)..
Just install and config, feel it and you'll agree with me..
Best if you can find those Noozy Studio 3, read some delighted testimony at Dorimanx S2 kernel (first time I inteoduce this to my friends in Dorimanx thread.

The instruction in OP to put on unique 3 is way off sounding the best for me.
Audiophile with a slight tweak is best for me and sounds massively different to unique 3
But, different setups, tastes, genre, quality of music file etc...

I use a Nokia bluetooth headset and it is louder through that than just wired.
I use PowerAmp + Noozoxide but set Direct volume control and Equalizer off in PowerAmp.
Use cheap stuff like very cheap bluetooth headset or the bundled s2 headphones and you are just wasting your time!
There are exceptions and one such thing is Sony Ericsson Walkman in ears that came with the Walkman phones, i even got a spare set for £3 from the market and i am not kidding when i say they are 99% as good as my £119 beats in ears.
Only problem is there is an awful lot of fakes of them which sound rubbish but look the same but under close inspection you can tell as the Sony Ericsson logo was not straight on one of them and colour was slightly different shade but without a pair of real ones side by side you may not notice, until you get home and hear them
But if you can get them brand new still(?) they are well worth the money.

**DSP (Digital Signal Processing) requires SPU or CPU to process the digital signals on-the-fly. DSP can be available on embedded chip or software-layered.
