Another way to remove tampered. From s-off thread.
After achieving s-off. All you need to do is use the "fastboot oem lock" command in terminal/cmd, download the 2.20 ruu found on xda. Windows only. Reboot bootloader.Run the ruu. After its done, "fastboot oem unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin"
're-Install your recovery,flash your Rom.///payday///
You must have your unlock token already,or know how to get it.

Thanks, can anyone confirm this works 100% even after flashing custom rom/kernel etc...
Yes, I just confirmed it. In fact, you can EVEN SKIP the "fastboot oem lock" step and never even have to boot into the stock (2.20) ROM! I totally forgot to oem-relock, but RUU 2.20 still ran all the way thru to the end anyway!! (Another added benefit to S-OFF I imagine?)
So here's the steps I took for a quick win:
1) TWRP: Full Nandroid Backup of ViperXL 3.2.3 & Elemental-X 4.4Beta Kernel (picked everything but Cache)
2) TWRP: Touch Home, Reboot, BOOTLOADER
3) BL: Ran RUU 2.20 straight from FASTBOOT USB.
4) RUU: 2.20 Completed,
Phone automatically rebooted back into Bootloader (?) and no more ***Tampered*** message! :good:
5) BL: fastboot oem unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin (I did this just for the heck of it and it succeeded)
6) BL: fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2...etc...img
7) fastboot oem rebootRUU
8) fastboot flash zip PJ83IMG.zip
9) fastboot reboot
10) TWRP: Nandroid Full Restore
ViperXL Booted, Rebuilt Cache "Android is upgrading 1 of 320", PROFIT!!
Looks like my Wifi Partition & Radio/RIL will need custom re-flashing again of course, because my Wi-Fi is back to randomly reconnecting every once in awhile, gotta love it. I put HBOOT 1.09 back on with a custom message: "IF PHONE IS LOST, PLEASE CALL {wife's number}"
