Please guys, stop asking for support for datadata ROMs. It's a temporary solution and is abandoned now. Cm10 v0720 is really smooth without that partition.

Continue testing:
WiFi tethering: working, but crashes at the first time. Enable it again and it's good.
Auto brightness: working
Vibration control: working

What don't work for now?
I'm so curious....

hah, looks like we were typing/posting at the same time. no problems making a backup for me with this. using pawit's 0720 rom.

btw, i thanked your post, but meant to click quote -- hah!

Duh, don't say you did not want to thank me, thanking is so a small thing , there a reason why that cannot be revert. :p

It's good you tested the backup, I am not ready to say that the mentioned bug cannot happen but I least that proved that it's not every time or for everybody.. Thanks you. ;)

Oh -- I didn't intend that to sound bad, and yes, the thanks button is no big deal. I'm not sweating my daily limit or anything. I only mentioned it because it might've been confusing or odd to you, thanking a question. But yeah, in hindsight, i guess I've thanked posts that were questions I was interested in.

Yup -- we all still have time to break everything we can!

One question...if this alpha comes with the 5.X Recovery and newer builds of CM10 with the 6.X one, is it possible getting a bootloop during the installation of a new build?

During installation of a zip, I don't think so.
Backups/restores will not be compatible, for sure.
Anyway, I'm working to update CWM to version 6

Thx for the fast answer, but i think i will wait for your version with the new recovery.

Anyway, looking forward to flash your kernel, it was awesome on ICS :)

IMPORTANT

About bigmem,

Switch to 480p mode on Camera before enabling bigmem from semaphore manager.

Because you can't switch to 480p after enabling bigmem. Camera will directly FC when you switch to Video mode.

Shortly;

First switch 480p from Camera than enable bigmem from Semaphore Manager.

Hi Strato,

Weren't you supposed to be lying somewhere on a beach having a nice cold beer in your hand?

But seriously, this is great news to see that I will be able go for JB without leaving Semaphore kernels behind me.

Stratosk, will enabling ur custom smooth UI feature clash with Google's TouchBoost feature ???

Also, to everyone else, pls it is really stupid to report that kernel is boot looping on a particular JB ROM cause this kernel is based of pawitp's kernel so he will follow the partitioning that pawitp uses so use cm10 or compile custom semaphore . ;)

I'm testing with smooth_ui and I didn't find conflicts so far. Honestly, I didn't study the code yet to know how they do it, but I thing it works in a different way.

I installed pawtip's CM10 just to be able to run semaphore's kernel. I was on Derteufel's V4.

I think I will go back to Derteufel. Sorry, folks, but no /datadata builds are not smooth as his. I don't have much lag, but it is there. Noticeable. On Derteufel there is no lag at all. Phone is faster than wife's SGS2.

I don't think no /datadata is the right way. It just don't cut it.

Just to clarify this.
I build kernels. I don't decide what partitions is better for the ROM's. It's not kernel related. Kernel's work is to support the upper layer. Nothing more. So, it is not in my scope.
If pawitp (or his team) will change his mind about this, simply I will follow.
I will see in the future if support for other ROMs will be needed.

Does tethering work with this kernel?

Yes, it should work, enabling netfilter.

Thanks everybody for your words and your support!
Your huge support and interest about Semaphore makes me want to try even more for something better.

Maybe it's not obvious, but I'm working hard on this project. Last weeks, I try more to expand my knowledge and contribute to Linux kernel.
As I said, this may not have immediate affect in Semaphore versions. But I hope for some results in near future.

Semaphore is here. I'm here. Semaphore will not stop. I will try to contribute to Linux kernel, through this project. Maybe using other device, but with the same goals.

    Thanks again for everything.
