I think we got a bad batch of otter box at job , nearly all iphone (they don't give use choice so i carry that thing and my note) got problem with otter box, i just tropped on the floor 3-4 time and it's already crack, my seidio on the note 3 suvived lot of drop without problem

Not to get too geeky but F(orce) = M(ass) x A(cceleration), not speed.
Also, the force horizontally (the main one influenced by acceleration) would only have a negligable effect on the vertical force exerted on the phone.
